I'm now up to level 5 across the board. I've also been able to get my 2-mile run time down from over 18 minutes when I started to my time today of 15:16. :D I now do fully half of my pullups overhand. I'm down 8 pounds since I started, to 156. All in all, I'm pleased. I run in a 5k a week from tomor...

Canned sardines?

I'm so-so on canned tuna, but I've developed quite a taste for sardines. Not to mention that sardines are only $.44/can where I buy groceries. :)

Is it OK to substitute sardines in place of tuna?

Today I did my 2-mile run in 16:08, my best in recent years. From that I took about a two-minute break and went into my first time up at a L5D2 workout. That took me 19:19 to finish (compared to 9:00 for my L4D2 workout last week). Oh, and I took off Tuesday and Thursday off this week and my elbow d...

More Ads

Kevin, you should totally put more ads on this site. I think I speak for others when I say that I come here often because I get such value from this place. Personally, I think you should be compensated for that.

I've been doing the workouts and diet for a few weeks. I started out at level 3, but could not do the pullups - that's been my most difficult event. When I started I could only do 3 before muscle failure. Now I'm up to level 4 across the board and can knock out 9 good pullups before needing a break....

av's log

I've been doing the simplefit workouts for a few weeks, usually going 6-on, 1-off, with a few breaks for out-of-town visits. I've been doing the diet also on and off; on when I eat at home, off when I dine out with friends. I'm 42 years old, male, 5'9", currently 158 lbs (I started at 165 a few week...

I've had tendonitis inside my left elbow since about day 2 of my simplefit training. I just live with it and continue working out.

Is heightened cholesterol a concern?

Considering that the diet recommendations include a number of eggs and red meat, does someone following these run a risk of heart disease due to heightened cholesterol?

I don't see bananas on your list. Is there a reason for that?

Beverages?

The nutrition page could use some guidance on what beverages are recommended. I drink mostly water, but I wonder about 100% fruit juices. Are they OK? I avoid diet soda (all soda) simply because of the chemicals. What about decaf coffee? Any other recommendations?

For those on a budget, are frozen fruits and vegetables reasonable substitutes?
