chin ups or pull ups?

I was wondering if it would be ok to interchange between chin ups and pull ups? I know they're working different muscles, and not sure if chin ups complement this as well as pull ups? Currently I'm working in these sets with my normal weight lifting routine that isn't all that terrible, probably ~1hour each day. Weights with squats?

I was wondering if you're supposed to be doing the squats with a bar, and maybe weights? Also, when do you know when is a good time to move up a level? Thanks!
