Re: What is your opinion on Crossfit?

The beauty of simplefit is that it's free and accessible to everyone. If I was going to spend over a grand a year I'd join a martial arts gym. That way you get whipped into incredible shape AND you learn a great skill.

Re: Off day work outs?

I would suggest cardio (skipping, running) and high tension, low volume strength work (handstand push-ups, holds from the online article Building The Gymnastic Body). The goal is to address areas of the body simple fit doesn't focus on, but to do it by generating tension without building ANY fatigue...

Re: Modifying SimpleFit to slow weight loss.

I would recommend eating more rather than working out less.

Re: Thanks! Also, 3 beginner questions

Also, if you're worried about cardio and unused muscles then add skipping and even tabata dumbbell thrusters (http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance/the_tabata_method), but drop them immediately if they begin to interfere with your simple fit progress. You must ...

Re: Thanks! Also, 3 beginner questions

I agree with cheapo's grouchy reply. This is only an issue to beginners. do the program for awhile and you'll have all the answers you need. As long as you see progress and don't injure yourself you won't have wasted any time.

Re: simplefit + weights

You've got a few options: -use harder exercises (wide-grip pull-ups, ring pull-ups, ring push-ups, muscle-ups, dips, handstand push-ups) -use a weight vest or back pack (this works fine, but you'll need to use REALLY strict form and the load will shift on your back) If I were you, I'd take your curr...

Re: ButtSmack's log

I suffered an injury at brazilian jiu-jitsu a few weeks ago, jacked my shoulder really badly. This week is the first week I can put my shoulder through it's ROM without pain. I plan on working kettlebell swings hard over the next month with mobility work mixed in. I have a feeling these injuries I'm...

Re: ButtSmack's goals

Quick check-in regarding my goals; weight hasn't changed, diet sloppy; pull-up and dip strength already going up in the fully unassisted lifts; have yet to integrate much sprinting.

Goals for next two weeks: eat clean, sprint on the weekend.

Re: ButtSmack's log

5 rounds of:

2 double 53lbs kettlebell clean + front squat + push press
6 jack-knife pull-ups with feet on chair
10 jack-knife dips with feet on chair

Didn't time it because last week I forgot to take 3 min breaks. This week I took the 3 min breaks and concentrated on form and power with every rep.
