I just finished my third week on level 4.

In these three weeks, I went
  • from 18 rounds to 26 on day 1
from 7 minutes to 4 1/2 minutes on day 2
from 10 minutes to ~6 minutes on day 3.
I think I've deserved a raise, so next week I'll be trying on level 5 for size. Booyah!

Thanks for the replies guys. I've heard about Tabata and HIIT before but I haven't tried either yet, though I am doing light interval training on my runs using the couch to 5k plan. I haven't picked the machines up yet so I'll have to stick with running until I do, but thanks for the links and ideas...

Rowing machine & stepper?

I just back from the Salvation Army where I bought a rowing machine and one of those stepper things. They were only around $30 US so I couldn't resist. My basic idea is just using them for cardio on the off days, but the rowing machine has pretty big potential for muscle building (I think) so I thou...

4 minutes and 44 seconds for day 2! That's over a minute faster than last week, so I'm definitely progressing to level 5 next week. Damn I feel energetic lately. I've started running regularly on the off days as well. It would be a shame to not use the wonderful weather we're getting. As an added va...

The times for day 2 are always excluding the 3 minute breaks. The "free" breaks I mentioned are on day 3. I used to pause the stopwatch when breaking up the pull- and pushups but I quit doing that.

I think that's what you meant, if not then I don't seem to understand what you said.

Re: Getting in Vegetables

I can't imagine I'll get too much sympathy on this, but I really hate the taste of most vegetables. (…) Thanks, Joe I'm not sure if this is any help (actually I'm fairly sure it won't be), but I just bought string beans in a can for the first time, and I absolutely despised the taste. In contrast, ...

First time that Day 2 kicked my ass properly. This level is definitely really challenging for me and I think I'll stick with it until I can do it easily. The pushups especially are still really hard. I think I've gotten very close to perfect form on the squats now and both them and the "bicep pullup...

Wow, changing my form on the pull- and pushups really made a huge difference. I only completed 18 rounds and I feel like the workout was much harder than usual. The pushups especially are much harder the way I do them now (i.e. correctly). I'll do days 2 & 3 before deciding, but I'm thinking of chan...

Awesome video, both educational and really fun (especially towards the end).

I've noticed that a lot of advanced CrossFit athletes in the videos literally bounce into the air when ending a squat. Is this a variation or bad form?

Until now I stopped the stopwatch for breaks on Day 3, but I've decided to get rid of those "free" breaks now. Btw, thanks for the form tips Admin. I never realized I was doing the pushups that wrong. Straight back pushups are a lot harder than those I was doing. I also pushed my pullup bar towards ...

Well in that case I'll keep eating them. Seriously, as a vegetarian it's hard enough to get good food besides vegetables and fruit, and hearing that refraining from grains and then eating them again is painful just makes me want to keep a steady diet of grains to avoid the discomfort.

I recorded myself doing the exercises just to check my form, but I figured I might as well upload it somewhere. So I did a quick and dirty edit and here's the link. It may be a bit NSFW as I'm not wearing a shirt and I show a bit of plumber's butt near the end when my boxers start to slip. :D Bonus:...

So I did the Level 1 workout today and I have to say I'm quite pleased with my progress since starting out. I went from 27 rounds to 46 and I didn't feel nearly as beat up towards the end as I did only a month ago. Seems the program is working! I also went jogging on Wednesday and managed to run abo...
