Simplefitters in action

There has been some talk about posting pictures of ourselves in action, either doin' the simplefit thing or other physical activity. Thought I'd get it started. Unfortunately, however, I don't have many pictures of myself in action, mostly of other folks I'm with. But here's a great one of my son at...

Keith's pull up bar

Here are some pics of my homemade pull up bar, if anyone is interested. The whole thing cost me around 15 bucks and took about 20 minutes to assemble and adjust.

Fat cells don't ever go away?

So, I was chatting with someone at work the other day, who is studying to be a chiropractor or something. She said that when we "get fat" our bodies create new fat cells. But when we "burn" fat our fat cells don't actually go away, they just shrink. She said the only way to get rid of fat cells is t...

My cat just recently went through a bout of fatty liver syndrome. She was very overweight and inactive. One day we noticed she had stopped eating. Her liver basically shut down and she became lethargic. Guess what the cure was? We had to force feed her some very high protein mushy stuff through a st...

Fiz, that's awesome! Are you doing full pull ups and push ups with that weight, or are you subbing? Also, I'm curious... I'd like to add a little mass too. But would putting on more muscle mass effect performance? I can rationalize it either way. More mass = more weight to push and pull. But at the ...

Andy, I was about to call you a geek, but then I realized I could read your code. Do you exercise in C?

Grrowwwl. Thanks guys. So, this will be a short rest week. I'll be greasin' the groove on pull ups and maybe push ups too. Any time I go near the garage I'll whip out a few reps of each. I also plan to run with the dog at least twice this week, but no sprinting. So far yesterday I did 2 se...

Andy, remember you're working out at around a mile above sea level. Both the U.S. military and Interagency Fire Center (forest firefighter agency) give their guys handicaps for fitness testing at high elevations - like an extra minute or so per mile in Denver.

You're doing great!

Great workouts. Good times.

Are hindu squats kinda like sumo squats? Can you do them with only two arms? Just kidding.

Keith's Goals

I've finally gotten around to posting goals. Exercise: I'm in decent shape, but there is much room for improvement to be sure. My current "drop and give me..." maximums are 12 for pull ups and about 25 for push ups. I'd like to take pull ups up to 15 and push ups back to 35 where I was few years ago...
