Questions

Is it possible to become ripped using this program or do I have to do more besides this program to get to that point? Also how do you go about kipping ive seen it talked about a lot on here and im not certain on how to do it, and im pretty certain that without being able to do it I wont get much farther in the program.

i'm no expert, but i think if you wanna become ripped, you'll have to do some excercises outside of SF.
there are some nice videos of kipping on you tube. just type kipping in the search bar and enjoy!

in my younger days i was quite a gym freak which showed some good resluts, so i would suggest some wieght training. by doing weights, you be able to isolate and concentrate on a specific muscle. you'll also be able to do various excercises for a specific muscle, e.g. for you pecs (chest) you can do bench press, peck deck, fly's, etc. all of these excercises concentrate only on your chest, which will show good results in time.

imo, when you're able to do Level 8 without substitutions and with good form, you'll be plenty ripped.

ok heres a question about kipping then. I have one of those pullup bars that go right into my door and I can not extend my legs fully, I have to keep them bent, does this matter?

I've the same kind of bar. You can't do a "perfect" kip, but you can do a reasonable approximation. Just try it out.

You'll definitely put on some muscle mass with this program, not the kind of mass you would working out with weights, but enough that you will get noticed. How ripped you look will depend more on what your diet is like. I can't remember the exact quote or who said it but "muscle is built in the gym, abs are built in the kitchen."

thank you for the info, now on to my kipping question should i kip everyday of the work out or just on day 3?

You can achieve good times on the lower levels without kipping IMO, so you should try for strict pullups on all days. Once you progress to higher levels of simplefit or to crossfit WODs that have lots of pullups, you'll have to kip to be able to achieve a reasonable time. Kipping shouldn't be used be used as a crutch for bad pullups, but instead to allow you to do more work in a shorter amount of time. Hope that last part made sense.

That would be up to you. If there's no way you can finish the workout in time doing strict pullups then by all means start kipping. But be honest with yourself, if you can manage with strict pullups then work that bit harder and crank them out. Just my two cents worth.

You can have the best 6-pack in the world, but if it's hidden under a weekend's worth of 12-packs and pizza.....
