pull-ups with rings

I've been doing the simplefit workout for 3 weeks now using rings for pull-ups and have noticed that I don't get as much of an Ab workout with rings than when I was using a bar.

With a bar I could kip but with rings there is no resistance to bring in the ab muscles to bare, I just wind up rocking forward. At best I can feel the top of my abs getting a little bit of a workout but its not nearly the same.

Any recommendation on what to add to the workout for the abs?

Can you do L-pullups?
