I was readng someone's thread and got the impression that two things I thought were the same thing potentially are infact two different things...

Are you trying to tell me that a chin up is different from pull up????

Oy... so much to learn, so much pain to endure. But the gain, oh the gain!

So what's the dealio?

I'll prob do a search to find the answer eventually, but if anyone had any quick thoughts...

Do both, one works more lats the other more biceps. Just alternate between them as you like, when you can do 20 it does not matter what type you do.

Ha yes, I had to learn that too...

Pull-ups: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pull-up_%28exercise%29

A chin up appears to be done with the grip the other way - i.e. palm towards your face instead of away.

It certainly makes a massive difference to the muscles used.

I also discovered that pull-ups from a bar high enough that your feet don't touch the ground are an order of magnitude (feels like) more difficult.
