Okay, okay......I haven't posted on here in awhile and it's because I have fallen off the Fast-5 wagon. No excuses, no explanations....it just happened. At any rate, I have a renewed motivation to try it again. I think I eat out of boredom and things are going to pick up again at work and I'll simply be too busy to eat during the day, which was the appeal of Fast-5 to me in the first place. Also, I think I have all those years of "eating 6 small meals a day" ingrained in my brain that I have to shake off. Wish me luck.

Thanks for the encouragment. I just need to find the discipline to do it. I got a good start but the weekends got me I guess. I've been fascinated with fasting for years. The benefits of it are very appealing to me because I'm not getting any younger but I want to. I've also gained a good bit of weight over the last couple of years and desperately want to get it off. Thanks again for this site and for your information.

I just read the e-book, and I think I'm going to give this a shot. It's so different from the 6 small meals a day I've learned from bodybuilders. I skipped breakfast this morning and I already have a headache and find it hard to concentrate. I know this is the hardest part about it.

We'll see how it goes!

For me after 2 weeks all those symptoms went away and I had razor sharp concentration all day I did it for about 5-6 months and really liked it. I stopped for the summer but will go back on next winter.

I like to mix stuff up, and I think it is more natural to use my current eating plan during the summer. I will go back to IF in the winter. I have also upped my carbohydrate intake from around 40-80g to around 120g-160g this will also go back down in winter.

Okay, I usually workout around 6 or 7PM. If I were to follow the IF plan, and eat between 6 and 11 PM, how would I handle it ?

I think I'd feel dizzy if I were to workout just before my first food intake of the day, or would I adapt to that ?

The book I read didn't say much about workout issues, besides the fact that you are not supposed to change your workout scheme at the beginning of the IF diet.

It is amazing how counter intuitive this IF plan is. I always read you are supposed to eat a LOT at breakfast, less at lunch and almost nothing for dinner as it would build fat and mess with your sleep :)
But I am ready to change this belief system and experiment.

That's exactly what I've thought, although I suppose this could work too.

I don't know to much about fast 5 I just do plain old vanilla IF (4-6 hr eating window each day) thats it, very simple and have had great results. In regards to when that eating window happens is 100% up to you in my book. Some people suggest that eating later in the day is more consistent with ancestral patters but I don't think it is in any way critical to success.

and regarding workout timing ? Do you have a snack first or something ?

I feel best working out on an empty stomach but many people like to eat a little before you can time your eating window so you eat a little before and allot afterworlds, whatever works for you.

Anyone still doing this diet? Does anyone do any endurance workouts on this diet? I would think I would have a hard time with my 1 - 1.5 hr lunchtime bike rides after 14hrs of no food.

I still do it. I try and time my workouts with my diet so that I'm ok for it.
