I follow a primal lifestyle, its a paleo based diet with other factors added in the forum is very active and helpful have a look here!
I agree with high quality lean meats and vegetables (just makes sense in any diet).
Fruits and fruit based smoothies are high in carbohydrates and are not necessarily bad but could de-rail a paleo approach to eating i.e. minimising carbs.
I eat 2 large meals a day my breakfast at lunch time and dinner in the evening. The 6 - 8 small meals concept relates to a conventional diets based on carbohydrates, no real benefit to this when eating paleo unless you are an athlete.
Finally, diet is important for weight loss/management, but, build muscle this will be a much better way to permenantly boost your metabolism.
