Question to the community - why so few workout logs ?

Postby Norman » Tue Jul 21, 2009 11:50 am

edit: by workout log I mean the forum, textual, version.

Here's my thinking : Kevin managed to build this big community ( 1622 users ! ) and yet, only few people use the workout log for some reason.

Of course, a lot of subscribers stopped straight away, or did only a few weeks but I'm wondering about the rest.

Is there anything about the workout log that could be improved ?

I find the workout log to be a great motivation tool : just have a look at cheapo's log for example, he's showing amazing consistency !

Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading your comments.

May you reach L8 this year

Well, I can't speak for others, but for myself I'm a pen-and-paper logger (strange considering I'm a programmer by trade). I have a 1.5" binder divided into sections - the first is a large block calendar that I use to log my workouts, the second section contains printouts of exercise routines that I've come across that I'd like to try someday or instructions on how to perform an exercise properly

I figure the pen-and-paper mode of logging is a carry over from my gym days. I agree that the logs are a great source of inspiration. I'll have to make an effort to start posting, but old dog and new tricks....

i've also wondered about this norman.

i suppose different strokes for different folks.

i enjoy the motivating factor of the forum, as well as hints and tips that you pick up along the way to help improve your routine.
the forum is also my own personal diary of my progress. immagine in a years time reading all your posts in your own log!

speaking of cheapo, he's been quiet lately.

I post mine now and then as a reminder to myself and people in here that you can come from nothing and get pretty far!

I really prefer the blog environment. It's a better fit for the random delivery of CF. I can go back to previous attempts to see what I am competing with.

/nods/ Checking a specific previous WO in a lengthy thread can be a pain.

Remind me, where do you blog?

Stupid me.

Ignore the obvious - Max Effort.

EDIT: And to find older workouts, you use the labels?
