Well, I've been lurking around here for a bit. Finally got the door gym I needed to be able to start the program and have so far gotten through 2 days of Level 1, Week 1.
This is probably going to be a little more info than is necessary, but I figure I may as well lay it all out there.
I'm 37 (male). Lived a predominantly sedantary lifestyle for the vast majority of those years, but ate reasonably well so was lucky enough to always be around the ideal weight. I smoked from the age of 14 until 36, 20 a day for the most part. Finally kicked the habit a year ago. Gave up alcohol ~16 months ago.
After giving up the smokes, I put on ~8kgs and knew that if I didn't do something quick, the rapidly-developing spare tyre was soon going to develop into some serious extra weight being carried around. I did some research into good nutrition and diet, and made some pretty serious changes in that regard. I've since lost the 8kgs, and have gotten back to a healthy 72kg (BMI 22).
I've been working on the couch-to-5k running program and am up to Week 8, Day 2, running 4.5k in 28 minutes. Aiming for 5k in 30 minutes within a few days time and then hopefully work on decreasing the time for 5k.
So, I'm very happy with where I'm at right now. Fitter than I've ever been in my life. My midsection is starting to get a little definition to it, but I'd like to get some real definition to it and build up my weedy flat chest a little. So here I am on my first week of level 1 and aching everywhere.
I plan on keeping a log and posting a bit in the progress section. It's good to be here and a pleasure to meet you all - hopefully my stay will be long and fruitful.
