Here are some links for stopwatch & countdown applications that I found strewn across the forum and the web. I thought I'd pool them all in one thread for convenience. They're all freeware except when noted.
I'm a Mac user so I use Alarm Clock 2 (which is excellent), but I had to use a Windows laptop for a while last week during which I used TimeAfterTime. In my experience it's the best one for Windows, but your mileage may vary.

Hehe, I assume anyone running Linux can simply grep -s * or whatever
it is they do. Maybe write their own little open source thingee in binary. ;)

Well, I'm familiar with programming and have some free time. Maybe I can whip something up for timing software here and specifically for this sorta workout routine. Then take user suggestions to make it even better in the future.
However, I guarantee nothing until it's actually finished, but if it gets going, then awesome, right?

Alrighty, looks like I managed to stay focused long enough to throw together a simple stopwatch and countdown program. Plus it's free unlike some things :P
So until I find a place to upload this thing, any suggestions on features? I'm guessing some people will want millisecond precision and I can add that in a few minutes if it's wanted. I'm also open to suggestions on how to make it cater to this simplefit routine moreso since that's what most people here will be using it for.
If someone out there is really impatient though and doesn't want to wait for me to upload it, I can always email it to you. It's not even 30k as it stands so it's lightweight enough.

Thanks for making the effort and sharing with us.
I'd like to see a "Tabata" timing feature. That would be a dual timing feature where you can set to two, or more if possible, timers to run in a linear fashion i.e. count down 20 seconds, signal then count down 10 seconds, signal and repeat for a set number of minutes (4 for the Tabata protocol).
I don't know how difficult it would be to create that type of feature. I know that PM2 monitir my Concept II rower has that capability. I am able to program an excercise period and an rest period that operate in synch. It doesn't post an alarm when the clocks time down, tho.

Good idea, I think I'll just directly implement the tabata routine though instead of rogue timers. Makes everyone's life easier that way ;)
I also think after tabata and millisec precision are added I'll just make a new topic for this and let you guys play around with it. Just remember that unless it's some insanely complex thing, I bet I could implement it relatively quickly. That goes for minor tweaks and such too.
