I need some help
Posted: Wed Aug 29, 2007 1:54 pm
I am planning on upgrading simplefit to some newer software and need a couple of people to help me test.
The test system is here http://www.simplefit.org:8080/
it is a copy of simplefit from Aug 25th
A) All I ask is that you log in look around at you accounts and posts maybe make a couple of test posts and a log entry that’s it.
Just post here when you have completed step a and after a few of you have I will upgrade the system and ask for confirmation.

The url for this message is the same - what's the new address supposed to be?

Ok - I can see the old postings when I follow your link. When I log in - it takes me to the current (not 8080) phpbb.....

Yeah it takes me so the 8080 site but my posts are showing up back here? I'm not real techno savvy but that doesn't seem right?

O looks like the login does a redirect looses the port number. If you login fist first then put in the port number it will work. Bec I see a couple posts in the old db from you for today so looks good
So log in with username and pass at http://www.simplefit.org/phpbb/
then make your url
That should work

hmm I am using fire fox maybe it caches credentials differently... O well not a big deal I can qa it pretty well myself it is mostly a dry run to see if anything horrible happens before I do it on the live system.

Yeah Kevin it seemed to work okay for me, I was already logged in here and then clicked on your link - didn't have to log in again.
Everything looked okay.

Did the test (with firefox caching credentials), seems fine.
The version number at the bottom is the same for both versions?

All of my tests were with firefox as well...

Yeah it is a clone that I will put through the upgrade process to see what breaks. This is a huge upgrade Kernel (core os), database software, apache, php, all system software and libraries the whole enchilada, so I know what will beak and how to fix it when I do the live system. Luckily it is all Linux/ open source so I can see what is going on and there is good documentation.

Looks like things look pretty good all the mysql data appears to have migrated successfully if you get a chance log in and see if you see any problems with your data especially in the forum or in the workout log. I will restore from today in a bit as well.

Ran out of time today to check it out because of some tasks I needed to do for the 2007.09 release on softwarefor.org, but I'll dig in hopefully tomorrow night. New upgrade may be nice for PHP5/MySQL5 coding.
