The President's Challenge

I found this site a few months ago, and it is helping me be more active and exercise more.

The Active Lifestyle program is to have at least 30 minutes a day activity for 5 days a week, for 6 out of 8 weeks and then you get an award. I am working on that now, and using simplefit as part of that.

The next level is Presidential Champions with a bronze, silver, and gold awards for accumulated activity, with an advanced level option.

It's free, although the awards I think you have to buy, but for a very small fee. I am using it as an added incentive, besides my weight, health, doctor's urgings, and posting on simplefit. I wanted to know what others thought about it.

I actually did that before. I even got a local group together to post activity. I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm but it got boring for all of us. People started dropping out and interest wained. There's really nothing to motivate you, other than the chance to get the awards, which you have to buy anyway and I'm not even sure if you need to qualify in order to buy them. There's still no community area like this (something I suggested to them 2 years ago as a way to boost interest). In fact, nothing has changed since I quit using it, not a good sign for an internet application.

The setup is screwy too. I stayed dedicated enough to log for 9 months and made my way to Bronze at 20,000, Silver at 45,000, and Gold at 80,000. Then guess where the next Platinum accomplishment is set at? 500,000!

It takes 9 months to get 80,000 points and now I've got to log 4 more years at that pace to hit the next milestone! I quit after that.

But don't take my word for it, I could be a raging lunatic for all you know. :)

I'm just still mad it takes so long to get to Platinum. that's like spending 3 months hiking up Everest only to find out you only made it a quarter of the way up. 500,000 is ridiculous.
