CoolRunning L1D3: completed. After running the 20 minute course, I was much further along. I returned to my front door in 21:36. That means that I'm 1:36 faster than the last time. :) pretty soon I'll wind up PASSING home and having to double back. :)

W2: L1D3: 6:11*

*Guy style pushups, pullups were jump to an L-hang.

I think the guy style pushups slowed me down. But they're what I'm supposed to be doing, anyway. Looks like at least another week of Level One... God I wish I could do an honest to god pullup. Those inverteds just aren't doing the trick... I think I'll either give body rowing a try, or rig a pully to my pullup bar and build an impromptu weight machine, and figure out what amount of weight I *can* do a pullup with, and work up from there.

Is there an animated gif of how to properly do body rows? Maybe a Youtube link?

Running time: 23:12, slower than last time, and barely a second faster than the very first time... but in my dfense I was on the road till midnight, up again at 6, drove 2 hours, ripped up a hardwood floor all day long, and drove back. So. I'm still satisfied with my time.

I go die die now.

W3 L1D1: 22 rounds*

*3 body rows in place of 1 pullup.

I placed a stepladder a couple of feet away from my doorway, and put my feet on the top step. I was just able to do 3 "pull ups" like this. I guess that's what a body row is... a pullup at an offset so that you're not lifting your entire weight straight up.

Week 3. Level 1. Day 2. 6 body rows, 6 pushups, 10 squats, 5 ronds for time. 6:14, a slight improvement in time over the previous Day 2 exercises, and the body rows are doing me more good than the halfassed pullups I was attempting.

Good job!

Love those body rows!

I still throw a few negatives in to mix it up now and then, but I like the fact that body rows allow me to hone in on the muscle areas I need to focus on.

Something that really helped me out in doing pull ups was installing a pull up bar in the door way of my bathroom. At first, I couldn't even do a half of a dead hang pull up, so I would just try and get one before I go into my bathroom. Over time, I would work up to doing three pull ups, and now I'm up to about seven or eight before my grip gives out. The pull up bars are about $20 at sports authority and I feel that they are worth every penny!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I really appreciate it.

Yeah, i've got one of those doorway pullup bars. Every so often I'll give it a try... the thing is too low to the ground and too narrow I think, though. But using it for body rows by placing my feet on a stepladder some distance away seems to be putting it to good use.

W3L1D3: 30 body rows, 21 pushups, 21 squats.

4:37. LEVEL UP!!!

Further, I have lost one and a half inches of circumference measured at the belly button. I am now at 40 inches even there, opposed to the 41.5 that I was when I started all this. :) Woot!

Running log: Cool Running Couch to 5k Running Plan

Level 2 Day 1. 5 minute warmup walk, then alternating 90 seconds of jogging (up from 60) with 2 minutes of walking (up from 90 seconds) until 20 minutes total has elapsed.
