Week 150

Postby cheapo » Tue Feb 15, 2011 12:21 am

Week 150
    Monday, February 14, 2011
    D1L8:
21 PR (+1 cf. previous D1L8, -1 cf. previous PR)

This was hard. So hard, it makes me wonder if I really managed 22 rounds back in week 147. Perhaps I miscounted?
    Wednesday, February 16, 2011
    D2L8:
      Untimed.

Did this with much better form than usual in an effort not to cheat myself out of a better workout.
    Saturday, February 19, 2011
    D3L8:
07:40 PR (-00:31 cf. previous D3L8, -00:31 cf. previous PR)

      Pull-ups: 50 (30-7-4-3-3-2-1)
      Push-ups: 100 (32-15-13-10-10-8-2-5-4-1)
      Squats: 100 (60-25-15)

      Yay!

Weeks 151-2

Postby cheapo » Sat Mar 05, 2011 11:17 am

Week 151
    Skipped.

Travelling on business, then super busy and tired the next week, and fighting off a bug.

Week 152
    Saturday, March 5, 2011
    D3L8:
      09:05 (+01:25 cf. previous D3L8, +01:25 cf. previous PR)

      Pull-ups: 50 (26-4-5-4-2-2-2-1)
      Push-ups: 100 (35-12-8-4-8-5-5-7-8-6-2)
      Squats: 100 (55-10-2-15)

Done in by rich food and drink, long hours in airports, and lots of office work.
      Still, I did it.

Do you do kipping pull ups on your D3 work outs?

I can't imaging doing that much work in 7.40, it's seems super human lol!

Then again this time last year I couldn't even do a pull up!

Oh yeah. All kipping.

I am in a bit of a holding pattern right now. I don't believe I could ever beat Level 8 with anything approaching good form. (In fact I didn't have good form when I beat Level 7!) However, I don't see myself sticking with SF forever and I don't see myself starting back at Level 1 and doing everything with strict form. Instead, I am planning to change things up, workout-wise. The issue is that work has me so busy right now, I don't have time to formulate this new fitness plan...so I am sticking with Level 8 for now.

Week 153

Postby cheapo » Tue Mar 08, 2011 6:53 am

Week 153
    Tuesday, March 8, 2011
    D1L8:
      20 (+2) (-1 cf. previous D1L8, -3 cf. previous PR)

Another tough D1. I did use better than usual form on the push-ups, to the point where I couldn't always complete all ten reps in one set.
The (+2) above represents 2 rounds I completed after the twenty minutes had elapsed.

    Saturday, March 12, 2011
    D3L8:
      08:34 (-00:31 cf. previous D3L8, +00:54 cf. previous PR)

      Pull-ups: 50 (30-4-4-4-4-4)
      Push-ups: 100 (40-10-10-10-10-5-5-5-5)

      Pull-ups: 50 (32-4-5-4-4-1)
      Push-ups: 100 (35-12-12-10-10-7-7-6-1)
      Squats: 100 (66-16-18)

Busy week, but I didn't completely lose my S**T and managed to get Day 3 done!

Damn, I was going to create a thread asking if anyone has actually gotten to level 8. Incredible, I was thinking that it isn't possible

And remember:

^NICE!

This is a big week for me: Thursday will mark three years on SimpleFit!

Week 155
    Monday, March 21, 2011
    D1L8:
      20 (±0 cf. previous D1L8, -3 cf. previous PR)

I had a great, but strenuous day yesterday:
      1. Move my son back into his just repainted room.
      2. 17:30 parents vs. kids hockey game—my wife and I with said son.
      3. 20:15 league game—SCORE FIRST GOAL!!! (since joining league)
      4. 21:30 DRINK 1 BEER
      5. 21:35 power skating
Luckily, all hockey was at the same arena!

My point being, I was a little tired today, so, no improvement over my last Day 1. No complaints though—I worked hard.

      Photos.

    Saturday, March 26, 2011
    D3L8:
      08:04 (-00:30 cf. previous D3L8, +00:24 cf. previous PR)

      Pull-ups: 50 (33-7-5-3-2)
      Push-ups: 100 (30-15-12-12-11-6-7-4-3)
      Squats: 100 (50-18-7-15-10)

I have a sore throat and the feeling that a cold is coming on.
The internal dialogue which eventually resulted in my working out was a fierce debate!
I am glad I did though, as I beat last week's by 30s.

Week 162

Postby cheapo » Fri May 13, 2011 9:34 pm

Week 162
Five weeks since my hernia surgery.
    Tuesday, May 10, 2011
    D2L8:
      Two Sets Only, Untimed.

I had dreaded this day. After five weeks off, recovering from surgery, I resumed workouts. I thought Day 2 would be a good place to start, because I don't time it I figured I'd be less apt to push myself too hard and risk hurting myself. I also decided to do everything with perfect form, including pull-ups (dead hang, full-extension, no kipping). Ugh. I was only able to complete two sets.

I had half an idea that my high level of fitness would allow me skip over a five week layoff with hardly a dent in my performance. WRONG. If you don't use it, you lose it.
    Saturday, May 14, 2011
    D3L5:
      05:00

      Pull-ups: 50 (10-4-3-2-3*-4*)
      Push-ups: 100 (30-12-8-1)
      Squats: 100 (51)

After my experience on Day 2, I knew doing Day 3 at Level 8 was out of the question. I did it at Level 5 and everything was with good form except the pull-ups marked with an asterisk. Those were kipped. (I couldn't do anymore dead hang pull-ups.)

Welcome back. I too have thought the same thing above with respect to my running, cycling, swimming, etc. The good news is, it comes back. Maybe not as fast you you want it to, but it does come back. I took 8 months off swimming and was back at my previous level within 2-3 months.

Week 165

Postby cheapo » Mon May 30, 2011 10:28 pm

Week 165
    Monday, May 30, 2011
    D1L5:
21 (I am starting out again after hernia surgery, so I won't compare this result with my old PR for Day 1 Level 5. Also, I don't feel like digging through this log to find it!)

Previous to my hernia surgery, I was at Level 8, but I was kipping all the time and not achieving a full range of motion in pull-ups or push-ups. I've dropped down to Level 5 and I am using better form.

      Photos.

      Skipped.

    Saturday, June 4, 2011
    D3L5:
PR 04:37 (-00:31 cf. previous D3L5, -00:10 cf. previous PR)

      Pull-ups: 26 (16-5-2-2-1)
      Push-ups: 51 (26-10-7-4-4)
      Squats: 51 (51)

      Back up to Level 6.
      Pretty good form.
Maybe next week I'll do Day 3 with perfect form and damn the time.

Week 166
    Monday, June 6, 2011
    D1L6: Wednesday, June 8, 2011
    D2L6:
      Untimed.

    Sunday, June 12, 2011
    D3L6:
      06:51 (+1:59 cf. previous PR)

      Pull-ups: 32 (13-6-3-3-2-2-2-1)
      Push-ups: 64 (24-12-8-5-5-5-5)
      Squats: 64 (50-14)

Hrm. What did I say last week?
"Maybe next week I'll do Day 3 with perfect form and damn the time."

      Not quite.

The first 13 pull-ups were good, but after that I did not achieve a full range of motion.
I didn't fully straighten my arms and I didn't always manage to get my chin above the bar.
So, next week, I'll try again. I expect it to go something like:
      Pull-ups: 32 (13-2-[40 seconds rest]-1-[60 seconds rest]-1-[60 seconds rest]-etc.)

Silly me just said you were on the same level as me on MDA guess you didn't stay there for long! I take it your healed up nicely!

Did you stick with decent form to get that time on level 5 day 3?
