Beer Belly's log

As a teenager I was pretty sporty and wiry: 1.78m (5"10') and 60kg (132lbs). I'm now 30, and weigh about 72kgs (160lbs) - with most of the extra weight being in my (beer) belly :roll:

I don't necessarily want to lose weight or to become really muscular, but I do want to improve my general fitness and my upper body and back strength.

It's been a while since I've actively exercised, but after finding this site I thought "what the hey", and started the next morning, last Friday, on Level 1.

Feb 20: L1D1 - 15
Feb 21: 10 minute jog (about 1.5km)

I usually struggle with push-ups, but in comparison with the pull-ups they were easy!

I was going to do L1D2 today, but I am way too sore! My whole upper body aches and I've coated myself in Tiger Balm, but it's not helping too much. Wow :shock: But as they say: no pain, no gain. Right?

I'll do L1D2 tomorrow morning and report back.

Any suggestions for the soreness?

I started off slow and careful, but then remembered that I was supposed to be as fast as possible (without rushing the exercises).

      run: 4 * 400m laps + 2*400 to and from the track
      first lap: sprint 100, jog 100, sprint 100, jog 100
      Had to rest after second lap
    25/3: L1D3
      5:44, (+ 2 min penalty): only 3 real pull-ups, the rest were jump-ups and even then I didn’t make it up to my chest.
      Next week I'll make sure to take as much time as I need to complete all the pull-ups properly.
