I'm not terribly overweight (5'8" 169*) but am pretty out of shape. L1D1 today, only 12 rounds. For the first 3-4 rounds I did real pull-ups, after that had to switch to partials (generally jumping up and holding, 3 for 1). Looking at the results of others, I see that people generally do more rounds than that even on their first time, so I'll try harder next week. I also wasn't 100% clear on how frantic the pace was supposed to be for switching exercises.

If I wanted to add jogging or whatever on the off days, it would be a good idea to wait at least a month before jumping into everything at once head-first right?

*I just looked this up and realized it's actually a good 20 pounds or so overweight.

Welcome!

Pace, exercise form, range of motion, variations in strength from one exercise to another...it is a lot to contend with. It's only natural that your first workout be a little wonky. Once you have a few weeks under your belt, you'll know your body much better, you'll know the workouts better and you'll be seeing and feeling results.

L2D1, 8:05. Could only do I think 1 pull-up (if that) before I had to start substituting. Arms still haven't recovered from Monday. Push-ups were fine, squats I had to take short breaks during the last couple of sets.

Does the SF "warm-up" just mean you do your first set a little bit more slowly than usual?

Hi,

just wanted to offer some advice on the running. I started doing a tuesday and thursday run with saturdays being a long run as part of the program. Didn't do it religously but it went well. I took the advice of our illustrious owner and started doing intervels where I jogged five minutes then sprinted for 1 min, jogged 2 min (3 rounds of that) then five minute cool down. Knocked a good 3 minutes off my 1.5 mile run. I like the challenge of it and it fits into the simplefit methodology.

Since shoulder surgery I've started it up again and actually completed 3 miles doing 5 rounds of sprints.

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely wait a few more weeks before adding to the workout.

L1D2, 5:19. Definitely making progress, as I was able to do most of the pull-ups for real with no subs.

Trying to get back in the saddle here. L1D1, 13 reps (at least it's one better than when I originally started :? )
