I figured it was about time I got fitter and, after trawling the web for a while, I came across this site. The training plan seemed the most feasible to fit into my daily schedule and I can alternate it with my running.
I've bought a chin-up bar and I'm all ready to go.
My only worry is that I'm rubbish at pull-ups (I'm not overweight, just weak) so I could be stuck on Level 1 for a while!
I'll keep posting updates as I go along.
Oh, and I had to explain to my wife that I was unlikely to get "chiselled abs" as a result of my workout and even if I did, she'd never see them under my Austin Powers chest-wig.

You'll be getting an ab workout with this program, trust me!

Ok, first ever session:
W1L1D1: 33 rounds
Quite happy with that. Pull-ups were tough (and may have lost some form towards the end) but it was the press-ups that killed me!
PS: Thanks for the welcome VBM. It's great to be here!

33 is a mad result!

I did say L1, didn't I?!
Hmm, now I'm wondering if I was doing it right!

Having read VBM's goals post and how he wanted to do 1 successful pull-up then I suspect I've done it wrong.
I'll be stricter on them in my next session!

I really couldn't get my chin above the bar AT ALL when I began. You might very well be starting ahead of where I did!

My point was only that 33 is a good result at any level. Day 1 scores around 28-30 usually mean a sub-five minute Day 3 is just around the corner. (And a sub-five minute Day 3 means you move up to the next level.)

Well that's ok then.
I thought for one crazy moment you were suggesting that I was some sort of superman which (apart from one memorable night in a costume that really was far too small for me) I'm not!

Pull-ups and press-ups were painful, squats were fine.

Thanks guys. I guess my current level fitness is ok for level 1.
I'm looking forward to the point where I start to fail, because then I should start to see some improvement.
I'll keep posting.

Oops. Way too busy last week. Will try to start L2 soon!
