L1D1: 16 rounds

Hello all. Newbie here and I just completed my first simplefit workout. I'm 35 years old, about 5'11" and about 160lbs. I used to play basketball and do the odd pushup, dip and crunch but never consistently and have not done so in at least two months.

I am not sure about what is meant by 'steady pace' but what I tried to do was keep going for 5 sets then rest for 1 1/2 minutes, after the first 5 i started to rest for 45 seconds to a minute between sets. I topped the workout off with a scoop of whey protein and water. any tips would be greatly appreciated.

L1D2: 1:29, 1:15, 1:09, 1:13, 1:25

Just completed my L1D2 workout. I was still a bit sore from my L1D1 two days ago and felt a little weaker. I had to drop to the floor after each pullup instead of doing two in a row. That workout definitely gave me a butt whipping.

L1D3: 8:51

I had to rest a few seconds between every pullup. Pushups were 11, 5, 3, 2. Squats were easy enough.

Looks like I will be on L1 for a while more. I don't mind though because this early I already feel a change in my body.

L1D1: 20 rounds

Pullups were still difficult but I did feel a little stronger and added a few rounds to my first day's total.

L1D2: 5:26

Over a minute improvement over my previous day 2! This early I definitely feel an improvement in strength. Though my time was a lot better than my previous L1D2 it felt easier. Also the same suitcases that I had trouble carrying in December after a loooong flight felt a lot more manageable this time around.

L1D3: 9:07.

Grouped pullups into: 2, 2, 1, 2, 2, 1
Pushups: 10, 7, 3, 1

A degradation from my previous time but I was more honest with my pullups and cheating as little as possible (though still quite a bit) after the first two. I still feel stronger and better overall though so I am still pretty happy with the progress. I can see some changes in my body and am curious as to how pics after my fourth week will compare to the ones I took when I had just started the program. I'm not that worried about appearances at this time though as I know that will follow if I get myself in shape.

L1D1: 19 rounds

Degradation in terms of number of rounds from my previous week's day 1 but I payed more attention to getting good pullups (without cheating) in the first 6 or 7 rounds. I had to cheat quite a bit starting at round 13. I had been sick the past couple of days but don't think that affected me here.

L1D2: 5:37 - 1:02, 1:07, 1:09, 1:09, 1:10

I felt like I could have pushed and gotten a better time but I was concentrating on improving my form more. Overall this almost felt easy. Almost.

That bodes well for D3!

I have quite often dialled it back now and again to focus on form and has helped a lot. It mixes things up too, go hell for leather for time and reps some weeks and keep yourself in check with regards to form on others.

When you know you have good form, you can let the speed come along. I record video of myself from time to time too, I do this to make sure I am performing proper full dead hang reps (sounds odd but a couple of my friends have said they can do dead hang and only actually 1/4 of a rep, so I wanted to check). Now, I know what the proper form feels like I know what to aim for without filming.

Keep going and good luck!!

Thanks for the tips Neilfenstein! I will definitely try filming myself when I get back home (I'm away for business for 3 more weeks).

Funny thing I noticed today. I went under the my office table to plugin my laptop and expected to feel some back pain. Nothing. WOW! I don't remember the last time that happened.

L1D3: 7:35

Beat my best time by 1:16!
Pullups: 4, 3, 2, 1
Pushups: 12, 7, 2
Squats all the way through.

Next week is week 4, which means take it easy week. Maybe someone can answer this question for me: How does someone who is only on L1 take an easy week? Do I just keep going? Do I take an active break? Do I do L1 at a more moderate pace?

L1D1: 23 rounds (PR +3)

I have resolved to push at improving my personal bests each workout. I was trying for 25 but ran out of gas at about 15 then had to take one minute breaks between every 2 rounds.

L1D2: 0:55, 0:54, 0:54, 0:54, 1:00 = 4:37

Almost a minute better than my best time! It's almost starting to feel easy. Hopefully I level up this week (unlikely) or next. Very encouraged by the progress as I am no where near as winded as I was the first few times and now I can do two pullups in a row without dropping to the floor (which I only started doing in the 4th set).

L1D3: 4:19 (PR -3:16) LEVEL UP!!!

Pullups: 3, 3, 2, 1, 1
Pushups: 13, 6, 2
Squats: 21

Beat my previous best time by 3:16! Woah. I decided to really push for time today but did not expect to beat the 5 minute mark. Rested very little between pullups and I had to cheat a little on the last 4. On to level 2.
