First off:

Height: 6' 3 1/2"
Weight: 175 lbs.

L1/D3

Past couple days were alright. Today though, I've been in a massive marathon of workouts (not just simplefit). This is partially from wanting to try out my own program, SimpleTick, and it's turned out pretty useful in other things I've been doing, not just exercise (end shameless plug). Most of my extra exercise has been tabata-based and focusing on specific muscle groups.

Pushups are still a major goal of mine and I finally realized it was my triceps giving out on me (how I missed it before is beyond me). So I did a tabata routine with them and they got sore a lot quicker than other muscles did (even had half as much weight as average).

I realize I'm pushing it today, but it feels oddly exhilarating to work out so much. Guess the fitness bug has bit, eh? I also have been jogging a bit more because my legs need exercise too. I am worried about my elbows and right shoulder though, they're giving off sounds that don't sound so good. They don't necessarily impair me, but it can't be good to hear a grinding noise like my elbows are doing..

So yea, I'm having fun today, but oh boy will I be paying for it tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have some baking soda around by then though. Yea, baking soda water, which tastes worsts than anything I can imagine, is perfect for sore muscles. Also going to be adding more protein to my diet in hopes it'll help my new lifestyle here.

Think I'm gonna jog another lap around the block now >.>

Don't over do it, slow and steady wins the race. If you push to hard to fast you will get hurt and need to start over. Ice joints that are hurting 20-30 min on 1hr off as often as possible.

I will check out your software as soon as I boot into windows.

Thanks

Guess I'm sort of on the borderline overdoing it. I'm working myself to the point where I'm definitely going to be sore, but I think I'm safely avoiding injuring myself. I'm also focusing on different muscle groups so instead of overdoing it on one area, I'm spreading around the fun for tomorrow. Although I must admit I'm not afraid of soreness due to my baking soda water trick :P

I totally understand I can overdo it, but I just had to push my limits for once (was having too much fun here). Plus there's the fact basic training won't go easy on me so I have to get comfortable with pushing myself. Then I won't have to later ;) I also think I'm at the end of my safe zone though for today so I'll give it a break for at least a day now.

On another note, this site has really provoked me into getting into a healthier lifestyle. It's also led me to learn a lot about fitness and my own body (like my limits and how to use my muscles more effectively and such). So glad I just happened across this site one day because it definitely has been a life changing moment in my life!

P.S. My joints aren't sore or hurting at all (just mild muscle soreness). My elbows just have this short grinding noise when I extend/contract it. My right shoulder also kinda pops out of place so some exercises I have a sort of "pop" when it moves unlike the other. Nothing serious, but makes me worried about long term effects. The elbows seemed to have quieted down with some rest though.

Hi !

Maybe you could add some stretching to recover optimally ?

Ok, I first started simplefit about a week ago and everything was starting to get into swing. Now I checked in the mirror and lo and behold! I magically have muscle! It really caught my attention the past day or so (coincidentally, I heavily increased my protein intake around then). I'm not looking as scrawny as I remember. I don't have pics to compare with, but if I'm noticing it, there has to be a difference. I'm definitely not "ripped" or whatever the term is for it, but either way, it felt familiar to that scene in the first Spiderman movie where parker first notices his newfound manliness, lol.

I will admit there have been other factors here. For one, it's not like I had fat to burn away first. Second, I was lightly working out with free weights before that so when I started this there was already subtle hints of muscle coming in. Third, if possible, the increased protein in my diet (from nearly none to recommended levels I think, maybe more).

I've also gotten compliments from the ladies which is weird for me considering my nerd heritage. Some even saying I'm hot. So naturally I'm skeptical as hell here, but it's nice to hear anyways. Best I got before this was maybe a cute or something so the change of pace is interesting.

Must say I'm not so ashamed of the prospect of being shirtless nowadays though. And confidence is always welcome in small doses, right?

In terms of my actual workout routines, I'm kinda meandering into a custom set up moreso which I want to snap out of. Isolated my pushup problem and am working on that. Also changed from sit ups to regular crunches to prevent possible back injury later. Still need to get a routine going for my leg muscles though. They are in sore need of catchup as well as my aerobic capacity.
