Well, my first goal has been met. I got 10 pull-ups in a row today. I've gone from 0 pullups when I started the beginning of June to 10 today. That's the good news.
Now for the mediocre news. I did L3D3 in 5:26, which isn't terrible, but obviously I'm not moving up next week. Doing 10 pull-ups in a row is, for me, doing them to failure.. which really cratered the rest of my workout. It took 3 additional sets (3-2-1) just to finish the required pull-ups. Push-ups were just as hard, 17-13-4-2. I finished the squats as rx'd, but they were much harder then normal as well. I was really winded about half way through the squats and really had to grit my teeth and hang on. I don't think I'll be doing anything to failure anymore, unless I do so at the end of the workout, not the beginning.
My wife did L2D3 in 3:50, but she says she's not moving up until she can do at least 1 real pull-up and most of the push-ups unmodified. Even subbing 3 to 1 though, she's fast and has developed great endurance. She rarely has to break the work up into multiple smaller sets anymore.
