"Assisted pullups" for me has been a broom handle between two chairs.
The chairs are at bar stool height.

My legs are touching the floor.

Hope that makes sense.

Lower the bar/raise you feet.

Get a Door Gym - see the products page.

Get a band and do band assisted.

You'll get a full pullup before you know.

On the issue of :

I stuck to level 1 until I could complete it without subs. That was after reading through some of the more experienced folks posts and figuring out what my goals were (#1 being able to do pull-ups again, #2 overall fitness). Now that I've gotten #1 the order of priorities is reversed and I of course want to do more chin-ups in a row. That said it took a loooooong 4 months to move up to level 2, but then only about a month to get to level three. That said if you need the motivator of leveling up then perhaps doing so would be good if that keeps you on track. I think I got more out of waiting, or at least it felt that way. I'd certainly listen to 'ucffool' on not going to level 3 without being able to do pull-ups. That said I'm relatively new to this but that's what seemed to work for me. There's my 2 cents.

i can't agree with you more mk.
rather be a week longer on a lvl, than moving up too quickly. my goal for moving up to lvl 2 is to be able to do D3 under 5 min's AND doing 10 proper pull-ups.

nice D1 mk - 32 is my PR for L1D1.
i take it that the slow time on D2 is due to concentrating purely on form, cause you should be able to do it faster.
i'm looking forward to see your time on D3 (won't be surprised in you crack the 5 min mark)
