I stuck to level 1 until I could complete it without subs. That was after reading through some of the more experienced folks posts and figuring out what my goals were (#1 being able to do pull-ups again, #2 overall fitness). Now that I've gotten #1 the order of priorities is reversed and I of course want to do more chin-ups in a row. That said it took a loooooong 4 months to move up to level 2, but then only about a month to get to level three. That said if you need the motivator of leveling up then perhaps doing so would be good if that keeps you on track. I think I got more out of waiting, or at least it felt that way. I'd certainly listen to 'ucffool' on not going to level 3 without being able to do pull-ups. That said I'm relatively new to this but that's what seemed to work for me. There's my 2 cents.
