      I watched a video of some dude doing something like a SimpleFit-type circuit and I noticed how fast the guy moved between exercises.
      I decided to try to improve my numbers by really racing between the exercises.
      I got 10 rounds in the first 5 minutes! But things slowed down after.

      29 rounds would have been a new PR, but I didn't finish the 29th round until after the buzzer.

      Over the past week (maybe longer), I've been noticing some soreness, a bit like DOMS, in my belly when my lumbar spine is contracted/hips tilted forward. On Monday, when I hung from the bar to begin my workout, I noticed the pain, and, having no distractions, palpated the area and found a small lump (about the size of half a grape) just above my navel. While on vacation, I helped my brother hang some sheetrock on his living room ceiling, I am not sure this is the cause, but it seems likely.

      I don't think it happened all at once. I think it occurred gradually and could have been aggravated by any number of non-fitness-related activities, i.e. lifting something, playing catch, etc. All of which means that while SimpleFit may have contributed, all it did was speed the failure of a weak area of my abdominal wall, a failure that would likely have occurred anyway, maybe at age 50, when surgery is more risky, etc.

      I am in the best shape of my life. That's worth a lot to me. I hope this is just a bump in the road.

      I saw a doctor today and he said I could continue my workouts, albeit with somewhat less intensity. I'll see a specialist in a month or two.

      I worked out using an unused soccer goal at the soccer field where my son was practicing. It was HOT. Also, hanging from top bar of the goal made pull-ups a good deal harder. A Ø3" pipe is hard to grip!

      Weeks 128 & 9 were busy, but mostly I was waylaid by my hernia and hit with my (apparently) annual hibernation urge. After my last Day 2, I was hit with a bout of nausea which I attributed to hernia + workout. I now think the nausea was just a bug (my wife and son had it too), but the association between working out (with a hernia) and nausea was made (cf.aversion therapy) and I really didn't relish the idea of working out anymore!

      I used strict form for pull-up and push-ups. I didn't pay too much attention to form on squats as I think my form is pretty good as-is.
      Pull-ups with no swinging or kipping and with straight arms and good extension of the shoulders: HARD.
      Push-ups with chest (almost) to the floor and with shoulders extended fully forward at the top of the push-up: ALSO HARD.
      Ugh.

      I tweaked my push-up form based on this article

      I'm...still, still at it...

      Today I worked out at the gym at CFB Shearwater. My son is playing indoor soccer this winter and his team had a practice there. I wasn't sure I would be able to find a pull-up bar that was available or that I would be allowed to use, but I brought some workout clothes along in case I did. I found a pull-up bar in an exercise room and gave it a go.

      The pull-up bar was wall-mounted and the distance from bar to wall was such that my kipping was limited. Also, the bar was slightly narrower than my bar at home. Both of these changes made the work MUCH harder. My sporadic workouts are likely also making things harder.

      After the pain of Saturday's workout, I decided that, because they were so much harder, the narrow(er) grip pull-ups are the way to go. Also I did my push-ups with a narrower hand placement and with my elbows at, or at least closer than usual, to my sides. Both are tough, tough, tough, but I look forward to big gains, like a beginner gets in those first few monstrous workouts.
