Chest to bar every time.
Good deep push-ups...but could be deeper.
A weak end to my first year of SimpleFit. Too bad.

Sure feels that way!
I have a hard time believing it after my 8-month Level 5 marathon!
This level really seems to be working for me.
All 3 exercises are challenging at this level.
I am seeing improvements in body composition and appearance (if I do say so myself).
It is quite fun!
That said, I am working harder than ever before too.

Not a great performance.
I have been hit with a low-grade intestinal bug.
Today was the first day in more than a week where I did not experience some abdominal pain.
Also, I was super-stressed about something, to the point where I was distracted.
Oh, and I was distracted by the kids arguing over dinner in the next room.
There. I've used all my excuses.
I can't use them anyomore!

Pull-ups: 32 (12-5-3-3-3-3-2-1)
Push-ups: 64 (26-10-8-6-6-4-4-1)
Squats: 64 (40-24)
Stomach is getting better.
I felt OK to work out, but I knew things were off to a rough start when I couldn't equal
(or even get close to) last week's first set of pull-ups
(last week: 16, this week 12).

Great progress. I have a feed of Flickr photos for those tagged with "fitness" and I see your photos come through every now and then. Great job. In case you or anyone was wondering, I still do Simplefit. I just don't log much anymore. I try to keep myself at Level 6 type fitness. My D1 is about 25 rounds and D3 is 8 minutes or so. I took some time off and did some strength training and put on some muscle. Push-up and pull-up stamina took a bit of a hit though.

Lol, gay massage stole your photos. Hey, I think I'd be flattered.
Over the winter I went for more of a bodybuilding style of routine for a couple of months. I put on a few pounds of muscle but some fat too (diet not as good as it should be). I've gotten back into crossfit to trim down a bit for the summer. But I always try to throw a Simplefit workout in several times a month, just to make sure I don't lose that unique level of fitness that I built up doing the program.

Things got kinda hectic these last two weeks.
The project I have been working on for the past 18 months was winding up.
I kept thinking there was just one or two more days of work left...
and then I'd find something else that needed doing
(or someone would find it for me!)
The job finally went out the door Friday morning.

Worse than the preceding week...again!
I had my kipping trouble again.
Instead of a compact, mechanical "unfolding" of my body up to the bar,
I wind up swinging back and forth on the bar.
Completing pull-ups with this motion happening uses up my biceps super quickly.

I usually focus on form and a full range of motion on D2,
but after my trouble with kipping on D3,
I figured I would be well advised to try to figure out how to kip
or else face another frustrating D3 result.
It turns out I was underestimating how much movement kipping involves.
On previous D3s, I have found that I was swinging too much
and I easily wasted 5 or 6 pull-ups worth of strength trying to bring the swinging under control.
This time I "rode the wave" and found that the swinging energy was
exactly what drives the kip, you just have to direct it the right way.
5'23" PR (-2'06" cf. previous D3L6, -1'56" cf. PR)
Pull-ups: 32 (18-3-3-3-3-2)
Push-ups: 64 (26-10-6-6-6-6-4)
Squats: 64 (40-10-14)
Kipping got me 18 pull-ups in my first set, but I couldn't kip in any of the following ones.
Still, kipping shaved more than two minutes off my time!
