Hello everyone, I'm new here. I was recommended to this site as I am a gym noob. I have a trial membership with my local Y, and I was given a simple circuit to do there, but it seemed....light.

I'm looking forward to tracking my results. I'll be doing L1D1 tomorrow when I go to the Y.

Well what can I say but WOW. L1D1 kicked my butt. I was able to do about 14 rounds. I was able to do maybe 5 pull-ups, then I realized I hadn't checked the substitutions in case I wasn't able to do more. Oops!

I did just check and I was doing *some* of the substitutions without even knowing what they were. I'll probably be doing the towel row once I'm unable to do more pull-ups. The pull-up bar was also harsh on my hands. Is there a good glove that anyone can recommend?

L1D2 on Monday...

L1D2 today. I did pull-ups whenever possible. I found that the towel row does nothing for me, so when subbing for pull-ups, I usually just use the "pull as much as you can" method.

Round 1: 1 min 12 secs
Round 2: 1 min 12 secs (started subbing here)
Round 3: 1 min 17 secs
Round 4: 1 min 19 secs
Round 5: 1 min 45 secs

Total time: 6 min 45 secs

I'll be doing L1D3 on Wed, which I expect it to kick my butt in a good way. 8)

Hi All, Ruli here. Also a noob to Simplefit. Started yesterday with L1D1. Could'nt complete the full 20 min's though - I was knackered after 11 min's and 20 rounds. Hopefully thinhs will go better as time passes!!!!

L1D3 today. I broke it up into 3 sets:
-4 pull-ups/7 push ups/7 squats
-3 pull-ups/7 push ups/7 squats
-3 pull-ups/7 push ups/7 squats

I had to use pull-up substitutions after the first set. I use the "jump and pull as much as you can" sub.

Total time was 7 mins! :shock:

Back to L1D1 on Saturday.

redleader, i'm also new to SF, but my understanding is that you should finish the pull-ups first, then do all the push-ups and fininsh with the squats.
can some of the more experience members maybe comment on the way redleader did D3?

I made the exact same mistake when I started, man. Zorg and VBM put me in line though. They and Ruli are right though, you run through all pull ups, then all the pushups, then all the squats. I know from my experience this far that looking at a large number of reps in pull ups and push ups can be intimidating, especially when you dont have a clue how to partition them best for yourself. When I do D3's, I try to look to the future for how many pushups, pull ups and squats Im going to be asked to do for the next level's D2 and aim to reproduce those reps. That way, when next when its time for the next level, I feel much more confident I can produce that extra rep per round on D2.

Thanks for the guidance on D3.

Yesterday (Sat) I did L1D1. Simplefit was down, so I couldn't post. I did 15 sets. I was able to do 7 pull-ups before having to start subbing with "jump & pull." 8)

L1D2 tomorrow.

L1D2 today, plus my regular regimen done beforehand.

1st round: 1 min
2nd round: 1 min 6 sec
3rd round: 1 min 4 sec
4th round: 1 min 4 sec
5th round: 1 min 10 sec
Total time: 5 min 24 sec

And I did all 10 rounds without having to do any pull-up subs! :D

L1D3 on Wed.

that's great redleader!!! u'r one step ahead of me - i still do the "jump and pull" thing when it comes to pull-ups. tomorrow i'm doing L1D2 and i'm going to give the proper pull-up a go. check my log tomorrow for the result.
btw, you must log you're rounds on the "Log" section of the site as well so you can compare against others on the same lvl as you.

on the subject of "jump & pull" as a sub: must you do three of them for it to be counted as one proper pull up?

I'm utilizing the Log section as well. It gives me motivation to see my own personal improvements from week-to-week.

That's what I did. If I couldn't do the full pull-up, I'd do three "jump & pulls" to count as one.
