Looking for new foam pullup bar grips

Postby davarm » Thu Oct 07, 2010 8:35 am

I have the Iron Gym pullup bar (same ones sold in Walgreens, Walmart, etc.) It has worked well for me over a year now, but the foam grips on the bar are starting to fall apart. I tried to contact the manufacturer but hit a dead end, i.e. no response.

Any suggestions on where I could get some new foam grips, or anything else I can use that would be suitable. Trying to avoid anything that gets sticky, or portable grips that you have to keep in your hands. Also don't care for using gloves.

Thanks for any help.

Grips are unnecessary.

I used climbing tape (a type of athletic tape) when the foam grips on my bar failed. Very cheap and effective. This is the kind I have, but sometimes drug stores carry something similar: http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... CGQQ8wIwAA Note that it can't be the glossy, smoother cloth tape. It has to be the rough kind, or it'll be less grippy.

Same thing happened to me, the grips started falling apart. I wrapped the grips in durable clear packing tape and it fixed it.
