I like the Whole 30 idea. I've been doing (fairly strictly) the 'no grains, no legumes, no added sugar' paleo thing for a while and I like it a lot. I have never felt better...such that I regard it as 'just the way I eat' now, not really a diet, etc. I'm getting a little more strict now just so I can see if I can bleed off the remaining excess body fat that I'm carrying, so in addition to the above 'no's' (the 'no grain, no legumes and no sugar' is permanent for me) and adding several more 'no's':
Red wine, dark chocolate and post workout shake (dairy) or nuts (I love walnuts, but I eat too many).
I haven't set a time limit for these 'no's'. A couple or three months, six months, 12 months?
I'm 5'8", 173 lbs. I would estimate that I'm about 15% BF. This implies a lean mass of about 147 lbs, so 5% BF would be about 155 and 10% would be about 163 lbs...so lose 10-18 lbs...that should be something that can happen over a few months (let's say no more than 5? I've probably averaged just under a pound per week since I started my weight loss/get in shape deal back in December of 2008 and I've gotten more patient with the process as I have worked through each plateau.)
Although if I feel good living that way, I'll just stick with it.
Personally, I'm not very vain, so 10-12% body fat would be fine, but I would like to see where my body settles naturally without all the additional things I do not really need inside of my diet.
