I don't usually bother weighing myself but did today..80kg (176lbs). My biggest concern is my waist! I properly relaxed my belly, measured around the top of my hips level with my navel..and it was 41".

That is unhealthy especially as I'm only 5' 5". So my immediate aim is to reduce that barrel shape I've allowed to return. No more bullshit excuses this time I will be working hard using SF and other circuits to get myself sorted....along with improving my diet.

Taking the measure of one's body is akin to facing the balance on a credit card statement you're afraid to open (because the balance is higher than you care to imagine). But, just as the only way out of debt is to face up to how much you owe, the only way to get fit is to know where you stand today. Kudos to you for taking this important step.

Thanks cheapo, an excellent analogy if I may say so..especially at this time of year when most credit cards have suffered from overuse! You are completely right about me owning up to where I am and how I look. If I convince myself there isn't a lot wrong with me then nothing will change..only by getting the scales and tape measure out have I realised what I have to do!

Had my right knee x-rayed yesterday...been waiting since Nov '10 to have it seen to after damaging it through running. The physio assessment says I have damaged the cartlidge at the back of my knee. I have been told to stop running...and doing squats!

Anyway..I've had enough sitting around...again!

23/Apr/11
71 burpees (w/o pushups) in 4mins 42 secs
2 x planks 2mins each

24/Apr/11
50 burpees (w/o pushups) warm up
10mins AMRAP of 2 pullups and 3 pushups alternating
3 x 5 hanging leg raises

26/Apr/11
50 burpees (w/o pushups)
2 x 2mins planks

28/Apr/11
100 burpees (w/o pushups) 6mins 38secs
10mins AMRAP of 2 pullups and 5 pushups alternating: total 30 pullups; 75 pushups
3 x planks 45secs each

29/Apr/11
25 burpees (w/o pushups) warm up
10km on the rowing machine in 34mins 25secs

I will find out in the next 4 weeks what if anything can be done to improve my knee..but until then I shall follow the Simplefit path as closely as possible!

Wednesday May 04 went for a 10.5km brisk bike ride on the roads...trying not to overwork my knee!

Todays workout was a bit more like a Simplefit workout.

For 20mins I did alternating sets of:

10 burpees (w/o pushup)
2 pullups/chins alternating (the last set I did 4)
6 pushups (alternating between normal/wide & diamond) the last set I did 18

Total number of sets was 15 so I did 150 burpees; 32 pullups and 102 pushups

3 x planks @ 1min

3 x 5 bridge pushups

3 x 50 flutter kicks (25/leg)

I make sure now that use good form on the pullups and pushups...full range of movement done slowly!

I weighed myself tonight...80kgs which is about 176lbs. I hope to loose 6lbs by mid June :)

Squats hurt my right knee but the burpees don't give me any problems!! Weird!

Rowing machine today....10km workout in 31mins 33secs. That is 2mins 52secs faster than the last time I did it which is pleasing!

Tonight I did 30 mins of alternating sets of 10 x burpees (w/o pushup); 2 x pullups and 6 x pushups.

Totals rounds 22:

220 burpees
44 pullups
132 pushups

3 x planks @ 1min

Doing burpees instead of squats is a killer but gives a more intense workout!

I did a 20min circuit tonight, adding an extra rep to the pullups and 4 reps to pushups...so it went 10 burpees, 3 pullups then 10 pushups.

Number of rounds = 13

130 burpees
39 pullups
130 pushups

I did fewer rounds but my arms feel more fatigued.

3 x planks @ 1min

3 x 15 reverse crunches

3 x 50 flutter kicks (25/leg)

3 x 5 bridge pushups

Plenty of stretching!

On Wednesday May 11th I went for a 10 mile bike ride...I enjoyed it apart from the maniac motorists cutting me up and pulling out at junctions!!

Thursday May 12th:

A 14 round circuit of 10 burpees, 3 pullups then 10 pushups. Had to stop after 14 as I felt a pain in my right shoulder...before I'd have carried on but I've ended up have to stop training all together as a result!

140 burpees
42 pullups
140 pushups

3 x planks @ 1min

3 x 50 flutter kicks (25/leg)

Stretching exercises. I worked out while I was watching the film 300, enough to inspire anyone I think!!

Saturday 14 May

I did a circuit of just over 30mins, alternating 12 burpees, 3 pullups and 5 pushups.

I increased the burpees to 12 and reduced the pushups to 5, but did normal, wide, diamond, hindu pushups and dips alternately.

I completed 23 rounds which amounted to:

276 burpees
69 pullups
115 pushups/dips etc

3 x 15 reverse crunches

3 x 5 bridge pushups

I weighed myself a couple of hours after my workout having fed and watered and my weight was dead on 77kgs (about 170lbs). I last weighed myself on May 6th when I was 80kg (roughly 176lbs). I have lost approximately 6lbs in 8days which is damn good methinks. The scales I use are electronic so are pretty accurate! I put it down mainly to the number of burpees I've done since I started working out regularly again.....1,437 since 23rd April.

I should also say that my diet is improving too...I've almost eliminated white bread and most processed/packaged foods. If I have pasta I only eat fresh stuff and drink lots of water!!
