I have quite often dialled it back now and again to focus on form and has helped a lot. It mixes things up too, go hell for leather for time and reps some weeks and keep yourself in check with regards to form on others.
When you know you have good form, you can let the speed come along. I record video of myself from time to time too, I do this to make sure I am performing proper full dead hang reps (sounds odd but a couple of my friends have said they can do dead hang and only actually 1/4 of a rep, so I wanted to check). Now, I know what the proper form feels like I know what to aim for without filming.
