Pull-ups Question

Hello! I'm new to SimpleFit, and really exercise regimes in general, so this question might sound stupid.

I don't have a pull-up bar, but I do have a ledge in my house that is about 20 cm out of my reach. Would it be okay to use the ledge instead?
