Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then two repetitions of the following:
Jog 90 seconds
Walk 90 seconds
Jog 3 minutes
Walk 3 minutes
21/8/12
L2 D1 - 22 rounds (pull-ups still assisted, but getting easier)
I paced myself better this time, doing one set every minute for a while until I figured I could go a little bit faster. I fully expected to feel a wreck the next day, but no, only that satisfying sort of ache when I stretched. My body must be getting used to this!

I mucked up my count for this one :/ I think it was 5 rounds, but it may have been only 4. I opted to call it quits either way because towards the end I developed a twinge in my left wrist that I wasn't particularly happy with. Pretty tiring too, I'm definitely feeling last time now. I suspect I'll be repeating this level too, but I'm just happy I decided to work out today instead of skipping a day.

Re: Mr. Howl's Log
You wouldn't think this counting to 5 business would be so tough. I think most of us have had one of these screwed up counting episodes. The brain just can't do higher math when you're working so hard.
Re: Mr. Howl's Log
No joke. I suppose it speaks more of lack of focus than anything else, but it's pretty humbling to realise you can't count to 5 accurately over the space of a quarter of an hour.KTG wrote:You wouldn't think this counting to 5 business would be so tough. Anyway, managed my first unassisted pull-up today! There was probably a little bit of leg curling involved (there certainly was when I tried to do it again) but it was a pretty exciting moment nonetheless. L2 D3 proved pretty tough though, so I think I'll repeat the level. The pull-ups weren't so bad since I stepped up on a chair after the first couple, but the press-ups were a killer. Even doing them in chunks after the first half, my arms failed me on the way down a couple of times.

Re: Mr. Howl's Log
congratz on the pullup! thats a huge achievement!
Re: Mr. Howl's Log
I'll prop that pull-up as well. It is huge! You've crossed the threshold! In a few months you'll look back amazed at how far you've come!
Re: Mr. Howl's Log
Thanks for the encouragement guys, it did feel pretty good
Haven't logged in for a few days, so lemme bring myself up to date...

Re: Mr. Howl's Log
Welp, been pretty lax lately. Been having issues with illness and general lack of routine, but I'm trying to get back into the flow now. Here's the log since I last posted:

I hadn't done any strength training in nearly 2 weeks, so I decided to start level 2 again.

I left another gap, so I started week 5 again.

Tried doing this again, but got a massive stitch and realised I probably hadn't left it long enough since eating, so I only got part way.

Same as above. Decided I wasn't in shape enough and should ratchet it back to week 4.
8/10/12
L2D1 28 rounds
This time I'm sticking with it, for reals. I'm going from level 2 of simplefit and week 4 of C25K. I've been struggling with depression, sleep issues and problems keeping a daily routine going, but I think I'm getting a grip on things now.

Definitely feeling it in my quads from 2 days ago. My pull-up form isn't ideal either, the bar is inside my door frame so I can't hang from it without my feet touching the floor. Standing on the floor between pulls definitely helps a lot, since I'm probably giving myself some momentum as my feet leave the floor. Still, it beats standing on a chair like I used to. All in good time.

It's good to see clear improvement: I managed to shave a minute off my time since the last time I did this. Managed the first 8 or so pull ups unassisted, had to jump a bit for the rest, but it's still an improvement over last time. Press ups were tricky, did them in 12,6,4,4 without going to failure. I didn't record the sequence last time, but I know there was more stopping and starting. The squats I managed in one sitting, they're almost always the easiest. Overall, dead pleased with myself. Looking forward to level 3 as of Monday.

Pull ups still getting easier. Still can't make it to 30, but I'm happier with my form. Doubtless be feeling this tomorrow.

Whew, that one was a killer. Had to rest several minutes before the last couple of sets to prevent training to failure.
