Just started Simplefit this week. I did 10 minutes (not 20) of 1 pull-up, 2 push-ups and 3 squats on Monday. I did 5 reps of 3 pull-ups, 6 push-ups and 10 squats today in 12 minutes.

I do the pull-ups at the gym using about 120-140lbs of resistance (I weigh in at 274). I do modified push-ups, using my knees as a pivot point. Girly, I know, but fat-boy here is a wuss!

My muscles are sore, but I feel great!

Hey man, thats great! You should try to go for the 20 minutes though, even if it means you'll only get maybe one or two more reps in. Or atleast, thats my opinion :]

Its great that youre taking it up, it must not be easy being overweight; I've got some overweight friends, I wish they'd take up some physical work to get themselves in better health. Oh well :\

Keep it up man! And good looks for beginning the program. Dont stop :]

Keep going and don't be dissuaded because of your weight. Do what can can while always trying to do a bit more. Good luck. Keep us posted on your results.

Day 3, Level 1

Postby ubuwalker31 » Fri Mar 23, 2007 5:06 am

10 assisted pull-ups (5 w/130 of assistance, then 5 w/160, since I got fatigued), 21 'girly' push-ups, and 21 squats using 20lbs of resistance on a cable machine in 4min 57sec.

I had to break out the Ben-Gay last night because my muscles were sore!

Invite them to the gym with you and show them this website! Tell them that they are getting a little pudgy, or that you've noticed that their eating habits are 'gross'. It is obnoxious...but I know that I really didn't understand how much I was eating. Someone suggested that I write down everything, just for one day, that went into my mouth, using fitday.com, and count the calories. I was eating ~4000 cals or so. I was shocked.

It is hard to persuade people to work out, unless your a doctor, and scare the sh*t out of them by telling them that they are gonna die. (That was my incentive, btw.)

Great, keep it up. For push ups you may want to try increasing your angle to the floor by using a bench to do your push ups from.

If there is a Smith machine, you could set the bar at a height that you can do full push up from, and push off from the bar. As you get stronger, lower the bar until you can do them from the floor. There aren't too many other uses for a Smith machine, anyhow :)

Level 2

Postby ubuwalker31 » Mon Mar 26, 2007 5:57 am

I did the level two rotation of 1 pull up, 3 push-ups, and 4 squats for 20 minutes. I was able to do 10 sets. Pull ups were done with 140lbs of assistance (130 on the last 2 sets). I also mixed in three regular push-ups at the beginning and end. I'll try the smith machine trick on Wednesday.

I've been adding in 5 minutes of jogging at 5mph after the workout...feeling good!

Wednesday Workout

Postby ubuwalker31 » Fri Mar 30, 2007 7:20 am

Did 5 rounds for time, 3 pull-ups w/130 of resistance, 8 push-ups using a push-up bar, and 13 squats w/20lbs of resistance.

I had an evil cold the past few days, and I got seriously dizzy after the exercise...went to the doc...sinus infection, sore throat, fluid behind ears, running a temperature, fun! My co-worker had it to, but much worse, he couldn't talk. Finishing up antibiotics today and feeling better, so hopefully going to finish this weeks exercises on Sat or Sun.

Good news though, I lost another pound. Thats 3lbs attributed to simplefit + my diet (DASH from the CDC)
