I try to do dead hang as much as possible. In case you didn't see the video, I really can't do much kipping. If I am on a run of, say 4 or 5 pullups back-to-back I lose form and tend to cheat on how low I go. I try not to do this. Once I get a good pullup bar built, I'll have no problem with kipping when it gets tough. I think that, as long as I go for dead-hang first, kipping the last few is ok (especially on D3).
