Simplefit survives a failed dsl router and a home Robbery!

Yesterday evening my whole network was down and after looking around I found the power supply for my dsl router was bad I called the ISP and they said it would take a week. Knowing you guys need to log workouts I dug around in my pile of old computer stuff and found an ancient "wirespeed" dsl router from years ago and a different provider and it worked! So never throw out your old routers!

Today I got home and found my front door kicked in and my house ransacked they had rummaged around my server room but the simplefit server was untouched! All in all lost a laptop my work will replace an ipod and a digital camera that unfortunately had some pictures of my 4yo son trimming the tree last night. The whole thing really shook him up but he said everything is ok because they did not take any of his cars.

I am just glad that nobody got hurt, makes you realize what is important.

Cheers
Kevin

Awful. Maybe a neighbor saw something. Surprising sometimes that a person will see something and not think anything about it until they find out something like this.

But it's good nobody was hurt. You're right, that's what's important.

I used to live in a small town not far from Birmingham, Alabama (one time and frequent Murder Capitol). I was robbed 3 times in 5 years. Once, my wife and I got home from work at around 3PM and someone was in our house - all doors were chained from the inside. My wife wanted to bust the door down - I was running to the car LOL.

I convinced her to take the "flight" option with me. We called the cops and the dispatcher didn't dispatch the call since she needed the money - it was her friend inside.

Anyway - the robber didn't take any of the computer stuff (I have tons). He took my change jar. He needed a fix.

My sympathies to you Kevin. It feels like being violated doesn't it? Like it's personal...
