Rest day. Took the usual brisk 40-minute walk to and from the bookstore.

3/2/09

Boxing. 5 minute run, followed by --

3/1 jump rope, w/intervals
3/1 shadowbox
3/1 jump rope, intervals
3/1 shadowbox, intervals (hard fast punching for 15 seconds each minute)
3/1 heavy bag x 4
3/1 shadowbox
Pushups and situps to near-failure.

Strange times. Working out, but haven't posted a few days. Started training boxing for real at LB4LB in LA, and it's a killer. I've had to adjust scheduling around getting more rest time between workouts.

This week has been --

Boxing, to the point of utter exhaustion. Then beyond.

3/10/09

Rest day.

3/11/09

Weights, x5. Just trying to get back into lifting a little.

Squats -- 95, 135, 145, 145, 145
Bench -- 135, 135, 135 (sore shoulder, stopped at 3)
DL -- 185
Pullups -- 2 x 8
Press -- 30x2x8

Elliptical for 20 minutes.

Ran 30 minutes in Venice/Santa Monica. Serious hill work towards the end was kind of an interval workout.

Boxing, but instructor didn't show, so worked out on my own. Heavy bag mostly, 3/1s, then some pullups and ab work.

My left hook's coming along.

Strength. The boxing gym's weight room is somewhat underwhelming, mostly Smith rack and dumbbells and a few machines. Hmmm. Even so --

Squats w/50# dumbbells: 5 x 5
Smith rack bench press: 5 x 5 @ 155
Wide-grip pullups: 7/5/5
Overhead press: 2 x 8, 35 pound dumbbells
Abs, mix up situps, crunches, bicycles, etc.

20 minutes on elliptical.

3/21/09

Long slow run, 55 minutes, about 4.3 miles

3/22/09

Rest day.

3/23/09

Boxing.

3/24/09

Strength again. Really not feeling the weight room thing. Still --

Squats w/50# dumbbells: 3 x 5, knee pain, bailed.
Smith rack bench: 5 x 5 @ 165 pounds
Wide grip pullups: 6/5/3
Overhead press: 2 x 8 @ 40 pounds
Abs.

10 minutes on elliptical.

I'm back to straight simplefit on my non-boxing days starting next week. Not crazy about the weight selection at the gym.
