My 7-year-old son has been bugging me to try SimpleFit for a while now. Last night I turned him loose and I was amazed at the outcome. He did 56 rounds.

I made some boxes (plyometric) that are arranged like steps so he can reach the bar. He felt comfortable and safe going up and down. Pull-ups were very steady all the way. Push-ups were good, generally. I did have to remind him from time to time to keep his butt down, chest to floor and concentrate on the second push-up because he seemed to cut it a bit short as he got about half-way through his workout. Squats, no issues.

He's a competitive kid and is looking forward to the challenge.

Your 7 year old son was doing pullups and pushups? Man that is extremely impressive, a normal kid doesnt have the upper body to do it

There were a bunch of times that he did three push-ups because he felt like he didn't do a good enough job on one of them. Unreal.

We'll see how pumped he is when he has to do 10 straight pull-ups or 21 push-ups in a row for D3. That should slow him down some.

Moving up to L7

Well, I leveled up tonight. It might have helped to have my kid encouraging and cackling as I went along. He was calling the time out and he made me go back and redo a pull-up claiming that "only my nose reached the bar." Thanks buddy.

He also thought it was hilarious that the stopwatch ended at 4:59.9...I believe he was thinking that he would hold me back on L6 if I got 5:01. I'll remember that.

The kid did level up with a time of 3:55.

Hilarious, right now I don't want my wife involved at all. Its distracting, she's curious about it, but my workouts are usually private affairs, I may have to push through that and try and get her involved. The baby isn't old enough to start the program yet, he's 5 months.

Have you noticed changes in body since you started the program?

I usually do my workouts alone but two of my kids are doing it now which makes for more time in the garage. If they want to workout (I never bring it up), they usually do it before bed. They do their thing and I get them inside. I come out after everyone is asleep or reading books.

My wife has been doing the kickboxing thing for years now. She's in great shape but has zero pull-up strength. I told her I'd help her with negatives but she hasn't bought into it. I think she's content to keep doing her thing.

I've probably knocked off some weight but it's not something I'm actively tracking. I know I could eat better but someone has to eat the junk before the kids get to it. I'm protecting them.

What is more of a concern to me is: am I progressing? If I can answer that my level workouts continue to improve, then I'm good. I'll let Simplefit worry about my body and I'll worry about putting in the time and work.

my 8 yo son is putting me to shame - he can do 1 dead hang pullup :)

My husband and 19 yo son are doing SF with me - but we do it separately...I'm not I'm ready for an audience, other than the 8 and 4 yo -

Week 16 was a rest week for me, so I did L3. Week 17 is when I resumed L7. That pretty much went as I expected. Nice gain on D1 and nearly identical D2 and D3s. I then went out of town for a week and didn't have access to a pull-up bar. So I didn't do all that much except fish and jump off the raft with the kids. Fast forward to Week 18. It's going to be a short Simplefit week, I'll have to workout Mon/Tue/Wed instead my traditional Mon/Wed/Fri. I start L7D1 and I feel weak. The first 10 reps didn't feel good at all -- usually I just go along and fade at the end. Surprisingly I matched my prior L7D1. I'll take it. I really like D1 and D2, but have come to dread those pesky D3s. They're really tough these days. Anyway, I figured I was in for a tough D2 -- no day of rest, quick turn-around. I was able to shave off 15 seconds from the prior attempt. Felt great up until the last round. Not bad. Next up -- D3 on a Wednesday. I believed that I was going to be looking at an 8-minute time. I start into it and strangely, I'm feeling good. I can't see the stopwatch at all. I reserve that for when I'm done. I move through the pull-ups probably faster than I've done in the past. I'm encouraged and start up with the push-ups. I start fatiguing dramatically around 60 but I get through them. Squats, which I've never had a problem with, are completed. Hit the watch and I see a 6:14. I'm pretty stunned. I went from thinking I'd be posting an 8-minute workout to shaving 78 seconds from my prior attempt. Very unexpected. Now I'm not really sure what will happen next week. I'll predict a 9-minute workout if that means breaking the 6-minute mark.

My kids haven't done Simplefit for weeks now...

Well, I'll be taking a break for a while -- had my little finger fractured at hockey last night. Seeing a hand specialist in the morning.
