I am a 42, male 6'4" 230lbs, 36" waist, 48" chest who has gone just a little soft.

I was a college volleyball player at 175lbs. Back then, I could run and never tire!!! I ate like a horse and never gained. I was not - however - very healthy. I was too thin for my frame. I was in better shape in my early 30s. I was swimming a mile 3 times per week. I prefer my current weight, but I'd like to be more muscle than I am (and a little less fat).

I haven't tried L1D1, yet. I am anxious to start, but will not begin until Saturday.

I am sure the pull-ups will be a challenge. My sleeve size is 37" and at 230lbs the physics makes this a real difficult thing. I will try using a bar with my feet in front (on the ground) to subtract a little of the weight. We'll see and my log will tell!! I am sure the push-ups won't be too much problem, nor will the squats. I am prepared to stay at L1 until I can do standard pull-ups.

I will augment my workouts with cycling/walking/swimming.

I like the idea of the community here and really am amazed at the range of abilities and types. I hope that I can stay motivated.

Watch for pics!!

Sore

Postby volleyball_man » Wed Apr 18, 2007 6:34 am

I actually like the feeling! A reminder of the work I put in and a reminder to keep doing it.

I went to my daughter's swingset and tested my ability to do a pullup with my feet out in front (on the ground) and found it to be reasonably simple. The bands didn't give me enough. I'm looking forward to increasing that part of the workout.

Cheers!
