Shrugging Challenge

Post by dgkimpton » Sat Jul 07, 2007 12:19 pm

I like this idea of challenges provided they stay achievable :D

To help get you off to a start here is a simple one - the shrugging challenge.

2 identical hand holdable heavy objects. e.g. 2 cans of paint with handle, 2 buckets of water, 2 bags of books.

Each object should weigh ~5Kg.

1. Stand up straight with one object in each hand. Allow your arms to hang down by your side with your shoulders drooped but your back and neck straight.

2. shrug your shoulders up as close to your ears as you can.

3. Let your shoulders slowly drop back down.

Repeat 30 times. For a really challenge do it again the next day ;)

Sounds easy huh? I thought so too... man the ache.

*Note: I have no clue how safe this is really - try at your own risk.

I just did this with 10 kilo weights...I have kayaking later today you evil man AND NOW LOOK WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME. Hmm, it seems I didn't even do them properly because I wasn't slow on the negative phase.

Great, now I'm sore AND pissed off that I didn't even do it properly, I hope you're happy.

Ahaha - yeah, surprising isn't it? It seems to use a bunch of muscles that arn't worked by the simplefit workouts (at least as far as I can feel).

This will basicly work your traps.
They will get worked slightly if your doing the handstand pushups and make sure you also push with your shoulders.
