My 1st SF workout today. I completed 27 rounds of L1D1 for a total of 27 chinups, 54 pushups and 81 squats. I did a warmup consisting of walking on the treadmill for 5 minutes at 3.5mph and then did a circuit of jumping jacks, woodchoppers and steam engines done for 30 seconds each. I was definitely winded at the end of the workout and it felt great!f

Nice work! you will probably be a little sore for the next couple of days but your body will adjust in a couple of weeks.

That's a great start.

You mentioned warming up on the treadmill and that's waht I used to do until I saw this warm-up video from the Crossfit Website. I've been using it (or at least most parts) for the past few weeks and find it's definitely a better warm-up than my usual 5 minutes on the elliptical machine or 5 minutes on the treadmill.

wow, that's almost a workout itself!
I like that sampson stretch though, I might add that to my warm up.
Thanks for the video link!

Yeah, that warm-up is a bit crazy, especially with the pull-ups and dips and sit-ups. The main point I took from it was the whole body range of motion exercises. I actually look forward to doing this warm-up because it really revs my engine rather than walking on the treadmill which I was just doing to get it out of the way really.

Today I did L1D2 in 2:40. I enjoyed the workout though the waiting periods got a little tedious. I took the advice I read in some earlier posts and deliberately kept good form and didn't rush the workout. I'm looking forward to the challenges in day 3, to see if I can complete all of the required reps!

I completed L1D3 yesterday in 3:30. It was harder than I thought it would be and ended up a very good workout in that short of time. Next week it's up to Level 2.

Today was L2D1. I did 26 rounds, completing 26 chinups, 78 pushups and 104 Squats. I actually did 1 less chinup then I did in L1D1 but it was a good workout!
I noticed in another workout log (Rob) there was some discussion regarding moving up levels without doing "real" pullups. I thought I'd share my strategy thus far.
I've never been able to do more than 1 chinup or pullup. Ever. That Presidential Challenge in school, I failed pullups every year.
I'm currently using an elastic band to assist me in my chinups. I have a set of 3 bands, large, medium and small. The large gives me the most assistance and is the one I'm currently using. I'm going to use the large band and work my way through the entire program. When I complete the program, I'll start over using the medium band and a more difficult pushup. I'm currently doing the regular "classic" pushup. Next time, I'll elevate my feet to make it harder. I'll do jump squats instead of regular squats, etc.
I enjoy the simplefit program and I aim to use it for as long as possible by any means necessary.

L2D3 (13 pullups, 26 pushups, 26 squats) done in just under 4:00. I like this short intense workout!

Looking forward to Level 3 next week.

A short trip out of town over the weekend led to a stomach bug. I was sidelined M through today so I didn't get to start L3. Next week i'll be out of town for 3 days for a belated Christmas celebration so I'll be in hiatus until Monday January 7th. I'll probably start over at L1 after the long layoff and then it's back to business!

Happy New Year everybody.

Monday 01/07/08. Back at it for the new year. I'm getting married June 21st and my goal is to be at 190-195 by then. I was at 210 this morning and believe that my goal is easily attainable with Simplefit.

Anyway, today's workout was Level 1, Day 1 and I did 30 rounds.

L1D2 completed in just over 3 minutes. It was a memorable workout for me as I was able to complete 2 consecutive chinups (without assistance) on each set. As I think I stated in an earlier post, I've never been good at pullups or chinups so managing even 2 was a big thing to me. The last few sets required a little kicking on the 2nd chinup to get over the bar but I made them count anyway.
