Hi all…I’m a 6’4″, 175 lb, 24 year old student who misses working out on a regular basis. I used to lift weights 3-4 times a week, but have gotten progressively more busy over the past couple of years. I currently work 50+ hours a week and am finishing my bachelors degree…which equals not much free time :-)

I feel like I’ve gotten more out of shape and want to get back in to the habit of being healthy. Long-term I would love to gain some lean muscle mass and not feel like a lazy slob. I imagine my ideal weight would be somewhere in the 190-200lb range. I was drawn to SimpleFit/CrossFit due to its low financial requirements, the ability to work out at home, and it’s short enough to work in to a busy schedule. I know I need to work on my nutrition as well and will be trying to adjust my eating habits over time.

Today, I got my Door Gym in the mail and was excited to get started. I actually jumped in with the second day’s workout so it will fit my regular schedule of working out on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I did the first round of pull-ups for real, but had to assist myself with the remaining rounds. I imagine I’ll stick with level one for at least two full rounds to try and improve the pull-up situation. Aside from that, it went well (but my legs are sore!). I’m glad to be here and I look forward to posting my progress…man I’m out of shape!

I’ve been bad, but want to start again. It’s been a busy couple months of traveling and school, but I need to stay motivated. I moved up a level even though I’ve been doing exercises assisted, but my times were still below five minutes when doing level 1. I’ll probably stay at this level for a while until I feel better about the pull-ups in particular.

2007-06-07 2 5:57 Assisted on both pull-ups and push ups…I also kind of
forgot about the rests between sets for the first three,
so I probably could have done a bit better. Pull-ups
are starting to feel better though.
2007-06-09 3 9:32 Really tried to slow down and do things right for more
benefit. Still needed a lot of assistance with
pull-ups, but did all push ups for real. I want to
keep getting better at this level.
    2007-06-17 1 21 Still struggling with pull-ups (big surprise), did 2/3
    of push ups on knees.
    2007-06-20 2 ?? On vacation and didn’t keep accurate time…was fairly
fast though, and I did all push ups for real.
2007-06-22 3 7:21 Still on vacation, starting to feel better with the
pull ups but had to take some breaks regardless (and
jumped a little to help). Did all push ups for real
again and am gradually feeling stronger.

The only thing that matters is to not give up, keep trying!

I’m slowly starting to feel better with the exercises and think I’m starting to look more fit as well…although I still have a long way to go with pull-ups (when I cheat, I at least try to hold and release slowly downward). I’m still not very consistent with making time in my schedule, and unfortunately will be traveling all next week again. I’ll have to see if I can create an impromptu workout while I’m away.

Haven’t given up yet…my personal life has had me all over the place this past month, but hopefully things will start settling down for me and I can actually stick to a routine schedule.

Well, things are going well and I haven’t missed a workout this month. I definitely feel like I’m getting stronger and am looking more healthy. I know I need to focus more on nutrition, but I have been eating better. I’ve also been taking whey protein after every workout, which I think has helped. I’ve jumped up to level three now and will probably be here a little while…
