After seeing Cheapo’s post on MDA – I’ve decided to give it a go.

6’2″, 35 years old, male, 226lbs, down from 234 in the last month.

Sedentary work as programmer, unfit doughboy.

    Week 1 Day 1 – managed a measly 32 rounds – I have a lot of work to do.

    Week 1 Day 2

    7 minutes 15 seconds

In the final round, only just managed the final press up.

Problem with form on squats. Will need to work on that to make them effective.

Also, didn’t use all of the allotted rest time. 3 mins seems a long time to rest.

On Friday I repeated day 1, for 36 rounds but with alternating grips for pull ups. Needless to say, very sore Saturday and Sunday.

    Monday of second week,

9 mins on rower gentle 2k to warm up.

30 mins 1:1 interval 7/4 with final set at 8.

week 1 day 1 repeated, again with alternating grips. 42 rounds.

The difference in strength is amazing already. Still a problem with form and balance for squats particularly once tired.

Bit self conscious, in the gym with others around but by the end of the second round I didn’t even notice anyone else was there.

Diet was pretty bad over the weekend but bad is now a relative term compared to what it used to be. Bad for a would be paleo/primal eater rather than a weekend of chips and booze.

    2k on the rower as a warmup – 9:05

    30 mins interval 1:1 7/5 up to 8/5 with a final 9/5.

    Goal by week 17 is 2:1 12/7

Week 1 day 2 – 3 mins and 33 secs. That is counting rest period as well.

Nutrition has gone for a ball of chalk this week and that is reflected in my lack of fat loss this week.

Need to go back to first principles.

    Week 1 Day 3 – 2 mins 18 secs after 2k rower and 30mins interval.

Good week fitness wise – disastrous week diet wise.

    On to level 2.

    3rd week on the programme

    week 2 day 1

Didn’t expect much today as I had a kitesurfing lesson yesterday. Spent 3 hours acting as a breakwater in the English channel which was enough of a workout in itself.

Today 10 mins on the rower and 30 mins interval 1:1 8/4. 8.5 was just a little too much but even so for week 3 I think it’s good progress.

I only managed 15 mins 05 secs to do 24 rounds – stupidly trained to failure. Just couldn’t manage any more. Again considering what I was like two weeks ago, it’s a big advance already. Onwards and upwards.

Diet is shocking still. Today was carb hell – cereal for breakfast, bread for lunch and a couple of small chocolate egg things in the office. I have put on 2lbs last week but unsurprising given my diet situation.
