Started three weeks ago and could barely do 1 pullup.

I was incredibly sore the first week. Went on a trip second week. Did L1 again this week and was able to do 3 pullups in a row on D3.

I was sore again this week and started a tablespoon of fish oil everyday. I am no longer sore – placebo effect? in better shape? or the fish oil? Whatever, I’m going to keep taking the fishoil.

Yeah, it really helps cut inflammation. Also consider magnesium one of the few supplements we all should take, especially if we are exercising.

    Hi Harboz, and welcome!

The lack of soreness is probably a combination of all those factors (maybe not the placebo..)

Glad to have you harboz. Whether the fish oil reduced your soreness or not it’s a good think to be taking, the omega 3/6 imbalance of most western diets is said to mess with all kinds of things including brain function, so anything to tip it back the other way is wise.

Thanks for the warm welcome. The minimal time spent on simplefit each week is a huge attraction. I’m hoping that publicly stating my goals and progress will keep me on this program.

I’m 44, male with a sedentary job, a family and am overweight. As an intermittent runner, I injured my ankle. Looking for a different program I found crossfit and this site.

I’m eating as close as I can to the paleo diet as my wife and daughters will allow. In four weeks I lost 6 lb. (now 207 – 6 feet tall) and can do three pullups in a row. My short term goal is to fit into three of my old suits and be able to do 10 pullups without stopping.

L1D3 today at 3:25, so on to L2 next week.

207 and you can do 3 dead hang pullups in a row? I’d say you’re in pretty good shape to start with. :) I weigh less than you do, and still can’t even do one real pullup, but I’m getting closer.

Not dead hang – When I was in NROTC we did the Marine PFT and you were allowed to kip – I’ve continued the practice.

    Finished first week of L2:

L2D1 – 21 – I didn’t push myself hard enough. There was plenty left on the table. I want to get at least 30 next week.

L2D2 – 12:15. Good effort. Went very slow on the exercises.

L2D2 – 6:25. Surprisingly, pushups were the most difficult exercise.

I’m stuck at 207#. We visited the in-laws for a week, so it’s not unexpected. I want to be 205# by 24 Aug.

I think the next ten pounds of weight loss will substantially improve my pullups.

    Hey – good job.

For me, what’s the most difficult seems to vary in an, as yet, unpredictable manner.

    Finished second week of L2:

L2D1 – 31 – I procrastinated until Tuesday. Pushed myself. Was sore for two days.

    L2D2 – 9:28.

L2D3 – 3:20. Did Pullups in groups of threes. Didn’t take a day off from L2D2 as I normally do, because of the procrastination in the beginning of the week.

Moving up to L3. Concerned with procrastination. I’ve fallen off the workout wagon at the two month point many times before. I have to power through this.

Good news. I weight 205# this morning. Goal now is to be comfortably under 205 next week.

With these workouts you will gain muscle (muscle is heavy) so best way to gage progress is how cloths fit or a measuring tape at the belly.

Finished first, and last, week of L3:

L3D1 – 25 – I was determined to do well so I put out max effort.

    L2D2 – 8:20 – Pushups are getting easier.

L2D3 – 3:55. I did five pullups in a row. Wanted to jump to L4 so I really pushed myself. I feel like I’ve run suicides. It was a killer 4 minutes.

Based on Kevin’s advice, I tried on one of my tight suits. It’s a little snug, but I could wear it to work. Unbelievably, I weighed 185# when I bought it (seven years ago) and I now weigh 205#.

This is a tremendous program. In one summer working out for a total of an hour a week, I have taken five years off my life.
