Fired away on judgement day a bit early. Finished L1D3 in 5:31. I was very particular about my pull up form. Man, it’s so much harder when you try to do them right!!!!

So today was L1D1 again…and once again it dropped the hammer on me. I pumped out a solid 18 rounds and then struggled through another 14 using substitute pull ups (3 jump/slow let down = 1 pull up). It was hard to maintain proper form but totally worth it. When I was done I felt completely wiped out, in a good way!

L1D2 yesterday afternoon. I was able to do 3 sets without using substitute pull ups. Almost done with my second week and I’m feeling much stronger! Judgement Day tomorrow morning…

    L1D3: 3:27

I had to sub the last 5 pull ups (3=1), but the fact that I actually did 5 legit pull ups in a row is still blowing my mind!

I believe I will attack L2 next week.

L2D1 yesterday evening. Managed to eek out 25 rounds. I really ran out of gas with 7 minutes to go. I did my best to finish strong. I subbed body rows after the 6th round. All in all I’m pretty happy with the progress. I can’t get over how straight forward this whole process is. Loving it.

So I hit the reset button today. After digging through several posts and doing some research around the community I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t want to allow myself to move up a level if I have to use substitute pull ups to do so. In my mind this isn’t a race to see how fast you can get through each level. When it calls for pull ups I will do actual pull ups. If I have to take 2 minutes between rounds so be it. I know that if I stick with it my breaks will get shorter and shorter, my rounds will go higher and higher and eventually I will be able to move up a level and start the process over.

Is this crazy? Have I drawn the absolute wrong conclusion here?

    Today was L1D1 – 25 rounds.

I’ve been traveling quite a bit lately so my workouts have slipped a bit….oh, wait – nevermind! That is the excuse I would use prior to finding simple fit. I was able to do all of my workouts while on the road. I found a park by the hotel with a suitable bar for pullups and did L1D2 and L1D3.

5:48 on D3. Since I decided to only allow myself to level up using real pull ups I’ve noticed I feel much stronger. I’m thinking I can level up by next week!

Finding a way to workout on the road is awesome. I’ve travelled a lot and that’s always a PITA.

And we’re back. It’s been a long wandering road and I’ve found myself in a state of fatness and disgust. I often become a victim of paralysis by analysis so I’m coming back to simple fit to get back in shape and shed fat.

-Starting weight: 212 – (most of which is due to excessive beer consumption and resulting poor food choices) – would love to get down around 180, but not obsessed about it

-Body Fat: 15% via calipers, but visually 20-22 seems more accurate. I’m going for a visual 10-12. Pants are currently snug at 36″. I’d like to get back into my stockpile of 32’s.

-Nutrition: Primal Blueprint most of the day, and then after work when I hit the carb-loaded micro brews I start ingesting absolute crap. I have to cut beers completely out, me thinks. It has been the biggest stumbling block over the last 5 years. Based on a family history of alcohol abuse – abstinence sounds pretty solid.

-Other: Sleep 8 hours a night, play more, read more and lock down a daily routine that balances work and family. If only there was a “simple” program for this one…

First workout back. Starting at Level 2:

    L2D1 = 14 rounds*

*I did the workout yesterday and just realized this morning before posting that D1 is supposed to be for 20 minutes. For some reason I thought it was for 10, so I’ll be sure to get it right next time around!
