    Hi! Just curious anyone tried or had any success eating this way? It seems to make since. My dad has always eaten this way and been thin and healthy even at near sixty he can still do pull ups and wear the same size jeans since H.S. Been expeiementing with it a little this week and thinking about implementing some urban rangering in with my simplefitting.

    YOu can check it out at nosdietcom. Basically it is eat a plat full of food , healthy or not is up to you. Eat 3 squares and dont eat snacks and sweets/ Mainly if it taste like a dessert then probably shouldnt eat it. Except on days that star with S and holidays. Soemtimes!lol

    I’ve tried it and I think it makes alot of sense–IF, you do it in a sensible way. You can load a plate a foot high with junky caloric food or you can focus on quality nutritious food and get very different results. The minutiae of WHAT to eat is left up to you. There are several things about NO S that appeal to me. One, you form a habit of when is the correct time to eat – if it’s not a meal time when you can sit down with a plate of food, then it is not time to eat. This also fits in nicely with family time because I think it’s important for a family to sit down to a meal. One of the hypotheses about the french paradox is that the french are healthier than americans not because of what they eat, but because of the way that they eat–they relax and enjoy their meals and each other’s company.

    Second, the guy who created NO S, Reinhard Engels was just looking for a way to solve his own weight problem. It worked for him so he created a web site . Now he has a book out but the website was first and is completely free.

    Lastly, I like the fact that you get weekends off and can eat what you want. The funny thing is once you have done it for a while you don’t want to go hog wild.

    I used the No S Diet to drop 10 pounds in five weeks a couple of years ago. I’ve gone quite far afield, however, and I accept responsibility for caving to social pressures and bad habits. One big problem was the “transformation mindset” that you stay on a diet for six weeks with a warrior’s resolve, and then… the Men’s Health article is over. Very few diets are as sustainable as No S, in my opinion. Honestly, you can sit down to any one plate meal, as long as it doesn’t contain sweets, and enjoy it without feeling guilty. Engels’ recommendation for regular, moderate exercise also is good long-haul. I found I always lost fat better when I took long walks (45-60 min) several times per week. I’d also recommend No White at Night, since that is almost the same as No S, but with emphasis on protein at each meal and no starchy carbs at your last meal. YMMV.

    Well, in the diet’s defense, I am not really able to stick to much of anything for very long. When I was No S-ing, I was able to stay on-board for longer than for any diet I’ve ever been on. My schedule changed and has given me great difficulties since with any plan I try. I was again doing well on No S when I got promoted, my sleep schedule changed, and I’ve gone up to 190 again. I started No S at 198 and stayed on it until I was down to 178-180. When I train in the morning, I have great difficulty eating breakfast. If I eat before training, I throw up. If I wait until I’m hungry, it’s noon.

    Wow! only 2 1/2 yrs later..lol Actually when i was following the Diet here and or a tradional 5-6 Protein meals!
