Jonathan22's log

Post by Jonathan22 »

After 2 months of 100 pushups, 20 pullups, 200 squats and 200 situps, it's time for give Simplefit a try. Under the previous programs, I got to 33 consecutive pushups, 6 consecutive pullups, 100 consecutive squats and 100 consecutive situps. I could have gone longer but my workouts where taking over an hour and I needed something that takes less time.

I am an endurance athlete by training having done all distance of road racing and triathlon. I originally thought that the first few levels of simplefit would be easy.
Boy have I been wrong.

Level 1 Day 1:
41 rounds

Day 2:
I doubled up this day since it looked so easy.
So 4 pullups, 12 pushups, 20 squats.
Next time, I'll do it as RX'd.

Day 3:
Man,I so thought this would be easier. It was a lot tougher than I thought it was gonna be.
3:09.

On to level 2.

Level 2 day 1
29 rounds
Doing it at 11 am in the sun probably wasn't a smart choice. Thought I was going to pass out.

Level up! simplefit looks so easy on paper. I didn't think level 2 would be that hard. Makes me afraid of level 3.

Still amazed at how a simple 20 min workout can put the hurting on me.

It isn't easy. I'm repeating level 4 this week. If I succeed on day 3, I'll do a 'step back/rest week' before proceeding to level 5. (Not sure what I'll do if I do not succeed---may be try once more then do a step back/rest week).

My pull ups are definitely getting stronger. I like the short amount of total time devoted to the workout. I like it.

One of my New Year's resolutions is to pick a workout program and 'fully develop its possibilities" (I've bounced around every 90-180 days around different routines). I'm going to stick with Simple Fit for the next year and see where I can take it.

If I manage to get through level 8 before year end or midway through, I've got a couple of weight vests to add challenge to the Simple Fit workout.

Welcome to SF!

I have seen people on the forums add weights, I've not seen it have great outcomes. Tucked away on the site are intermediate and advanced workouts ..

http://www.simplefit.org/advanced-bodyw ... cises.html

So if you hit Level 8, just progress up to Intermediate :)

Tried to do the pullups in sets of 4. That worked through 8 and then they became sets of 1. Then pushups in sets of 11 and that worked up until #22.

I thought I would breeze up to level 5; having to repeat level 3 has been an eye opener.

On Monday after my SF workout, my left trap was really hurting. I think I pulled it during the workout. Then on Tuesday got bad food poisoning which took me out for the rest of the week. Sunday now and have a 16 mile long run. While start back to SF on Monday with Level 1 just to build back up/ease into it.

L3D1 - 31

Decided to go with L3 rather than L1. Glad I did. Crushed it. 7 more than last time. Felt so strong today. Good sign for beating D3.
