Level 7 - Week 5

Post by brmc72 »

Day 3

Pull-ups: 15, 5, 5, 4, 6, 4, 1 (completed in 3:50)
Push-ups: 40, 20, 10, 10 (completed in 2:54)
Squats: 40, 40 (completed in :91)
Total time: 8:15 -> a 41 second improvement over last week

I decided to just go for it on my first round of pull-ups...I was pretty happy to get 15, but that completely burned by arms out, so I could only do a handful at a time after that. Pretty happy with my push-up performance too.

Level 7 - Week 6

Post by brmc72 »

Day 1: 23 rounds in 19:51 (one round short of my previous best)

Day 2:
Round 1: 1:03
Round 2: 1:04
Round 3: 1:03
Round 4: 1:00
Round 5: :57
Total: 5:07 (15 seconds faster than last week and the best overall Day 2 time since I started on Level 7)

Day 3: 7:44 (31 seconds faster than last week and the best overall Day 3 time since I started on Level 7)

I felt really got about my performance this week. Last week was rough since I had been kind of lazy the previous two weeks, but I feel like I'm back in the swing of things and making some gains this week. It's all about consistency.

Good to see you sticking with it. Things have gotten a bit quieter around here it seems.

I've noticed that too...I think quite a few people have started posting weekly vs. after every workout.

Level 7 - Week 6

Post by brmc72 »

Day 1: 26 rounds in 19:36

Felt really good, during this workout and managed to beat my previous best by 2 rounds! Not that I'm counting, but that's 104 pull-ups, 208 push-ups and 312 squats

I think my plan, at this point, is to finish off this week and then maybe pick up a weight vest and drop down a couple of levels...focus more on lower reps/higher weight for a bit. I'd be curious to try that for a couple of weeks and then come back to level 7, without the weight vest, and see what that does to my day 3 times.

Great job. It will be interesting to see how the weight vest approach goes. I think you are probably right that something like that is needed to move through these crazy high levels.

Level 5 - Week 1

Post by brmc72 »

Hi all,

Well, according to my log, it looks like it's been just over 6 months since my last SF workout. I decided to try some different stuff a while back (read: I'll just work out without following any type of structured plan) and, turns out, if I don't have a plan I'm following I just don't exercise at a level of intensity that does me much good. So I've decided to dust of my SF workout log and give it another go.

I was at a pretty solid level 7 last time, so I decided to drop down a couple of levels and work my way back up. I just got done with the level 5 day 1 workout and managed to get in 20 rounds. I got a little out of sync at one point, so it's possible I did as many as 22 rounds, but I'm happy with logging 20. I forgot how miserable day 1 was

I see some familiar names in the boards...good to know some of you are still around, and I see some new names as well, so I'm looking forward to reading through your logs.

Welcome back! We are right in sync on drifting away and coming back a little weaker. I hope to be back on L5D1 in a couple of weeks. I suspect your base will take you back up towards level 7 quicker than mine.

26 rounds for level 7 day 1 is more than "pretty solid". I'm humbled by that, but it also tells me that that kind of progress is possible. Thanks for posting, Ill be sure to follow along.

Day 1: 20 rounds

Day 2:
  • Round 1: 0:51
    Round 2: 0:50
    Round 3: 0:46
    Round 4: 0:48
    Round 5: 0:48
    Total: 4:03
Day 3: 3:48
  • Pullups: 10, 6, 5, 5
Pushups: 30, 21 (took a couple of rests during the last set of 21, but didn't go down to my knees and actually stop)
    Squats: 51
Did an extra, untimed, set of the day 3 exercises once I recovered at bit. I'm guessing it took me about 20 minutes to get through it the 2nd time around.

Fantastic!

Not to quibble, but D1 looks pretty relaxed for you and I only see 21 pull-ups there on D3.
